It's really not that great. I'm a fat slug american and the actual edible things (fruit, vegetables, meat) are still pretty expensive. We have lots of corn and soy goodies for cheap though.

i have heard fast food stuff its cheaper due to the discounts and shit but lettuce and common stuff to cook are damn expensive.

At least they dont have to eat noddles with nothing else the whole month just to be able to pay the bills.
Argentina is a total shithole , people here has lots of ranchos filled with cows yet the meat is the most expensive and people end up not eating.

This man is full of shit, I'm at a perfect weight and BMI, eat loads of veggies and lean protein and spend roughly $30-$50 a week on groceries. It would be expensive if I bought steaks and lobster all the time, but I don't. Its called budgeting and taking care of your body which is totally realistic even if I was broke.

1lb of chicken thighs here is $12-$15. In the states it's like $6. Even with the dollar being shit it's outrageously expensive. This is without taking into account the dairy cartels that are paid by the government to gouge us. Having lived in Washington for a year and then going back to Canada, it's considerably cheaper in every possible metric to live in the states.

European food was cheap due to the common market or EU now that now longer exists so little stores like Aldi and Lidl that import alot of German and Spanish produce will be more expensive.
When you work full time there's less leisure and browsing allowance: they lure you into the petrol stations with expensive sandwiches and snacks at lunch time and delicatessens which are the most expensive, next to farmers markets and health food.
When you don't work full time there's a chance you know where the best deals are ,have a supermarket club card and also know not to buy to much fruit and vegetables
