I don't know much about american suburbs, but maybe there are some bus stations nearby?
For me, the act of eating not homemade food is always a journey of sorts. You get to walk to the place, the path is also a part of the journey. Then the place also has it's own atmosphere, either artsy and artificial, like in a coffee house or more utilitarian and somewhat entropic, like in a diner.
Just ordering your food at home strips a lot from the experience.
