Last week I asked for input on my baking videos and got some good feedback. I am just starting this channel and trying to learn as I go.

-Less slow motion.
-More shots showing myself.
-Shorter video
-remove audio sfx
-Reduce out of focus shots. Attempt
-More lighting on close ups

Please let me know of any feedback or criticism you have. I really appreciated all the tips and info from last week.

DAMN, Alice looks like THAT?!?

- focus on the recipe rather than yourself. too many unecessary shots of yourself and yourself doing menial repetitive tasks (like cutting).
- Make more focused and tight shots like 1:20, probably far easier to edit that stuff too.
- Music is kinda weird, choose something more homely and warming.
- Less shots of panning onto the food, very awkward looking. Just have a still camera.
- Ending shots were really awkward, just cut into the food and that's it, I don't like seeing people eat, especially if they look into the camera afterwards. The money shots of the final product were good though.

It's mostly just the eye contact, very awkward imo. you can keep shots of yourself, just don't make that the focus of a shot, make sure to keep the focus on the food/recipe.

it's creepy that you're her boyfriend pretending to be her, but i looked over the thread before watching vid, will give initial impressions and try elaborating on what others have said. i will list alterations in order of urgency

>music is from the part of the movie where the kid's dad dies and he's coming to terms with it
>your voice is soft and cute but your interest isn't obvious. i don't mean you have to be psychotically peppy like other youtubers but voicing more enthusiasm would help me feel engaged, and it's an attractive quality in general
>slow motion is about 20% too slow, and lasts a little too long
>likewise, don't be afraid to use fast motion even more frequently than you use slow motion
>part of being a home cook is screwing up sometimes, so if you occasionally shared things that are easy to botch, or why it's important to do something a certain way, it's interesting

lastly editing tip, when the dish starts to come together, like when it's assembled before being baked, or when pulilng it out of the oven, it's nice to switch to a different song to add a sense of progression

Thank you for this input.
I will have upbeat music for the next video.
I think I can be more upbeat when I am speaking over more upbeat music.
Faster slow motion - will do
">likewise, don't be afraid to use fast motion even more frequently than you use slow motion" -like time lapse type motion or just regular?
Showing mistakes or crucial tips- can do
I will have the song change for oven removal and after.
Thank you so much for these tips.
It's not my boyfriend, I read and reply to these so I appreciate you taking the time to give helpful tips and not being hurtful like others. Thank you

if you're mixing 5 ingredients in a bowl by hand for instance, perhaps show the first four seconds at normal speed, then say 2x speed for the mixing, and then back to normal speed for the last few seconds of mixing so we can see how it should look when mixing's done.

you'll find there are moments where we're watching you do something simple like cut butter. these moments should either have you talking about something, or (if they last over 10 seconds) sped up a bit.

the music could also be toned down 5% volume or so, but it may be less of an issue if the song is better. i just wouldn't want it competing with your pretty voice.

Thank you for all these tips on the speeds and flow of the video.
The music was a bit too monotonous, I will see how my voice sounds against an upbeat tune and have it adjusted accordingly.

might be good to do at least one video where you switch the narration out in favor of speaking in the actual video. i would just give it a try, see if that works as well. may make it feel more personable, and would make some of the self shots feel more natural

So after posting >>16227790 , I watched your other videos and saw that you're purposely going for a "relaxing" vibe, so I kind of take back what I said. You don't need to speak normally (unless your normal voice is comfier than your current video voice), but you should definitely NOT speak any softer (ASMR stuff aside, it's also getting a bit more difficult to follow what you're saying). Next time you start a thread, you should tell us what type of video style you're aiming for, because It seems like we're all giving you conflicting information that is going the opposite way of your creative vision

you guys are assholes. OP here's some constructive criticism:

your video could use some more atmosphere, the music is too loud and there are not enough kitchen sounds, also the lighting could be nicer for a relaxing feeling. Have you considered dimming the lighting if you can, or maybe candlelight? You could also streamline your footage a bit. There are long shots of you mixing ingredients and opening things, but you probably don't need them because you're not conveying any additional information and you're not relaxing the viewer with kitchen sounds. It's just redundant dead air and music. You look a little uncomfortable and you're not projecting a ton of personality or anything since you mostly have an " :I " face, so unless you want to be a more active element of the video you don't need to be on camera. Try to add a bit more color into what you're doing too. I think better lighting will help, but the overall presentation is a little bland in that area.

Hopefully I was helpful. Good luck! =)

The only portions you want the camera to focus on you is on the transitionary parts between work stations. eg. cutting board -> oven, sink -> cutting board, etc. Look at Gordon Ramsey's home cooking videos.

This is helpful, last post some people did not like kitchen sounds, so I had them removed.
I think I just need a higher quality kitchen sounds, I will try to prioritize voice and kitchen sounds over music in the next video. as for the lighting I think it was better before this video but i may need better accent lighting for the mood. this is all very helpful, thank you!

It's painful to watch, like being at a funeral that's going on too long and you have a migraine. Stop shilling this garbage here.
