I had it as a pulled pork substitute once and it was OK, but it was drenched in BBQ sauce and thankfully they had some decent spicy sauce on the side. Why they served it with a sweet potato bun confounds me, because it was extremely sweet to begin with.

Jackfruit smells good, you're thinking of durians which smells like rotten feets.

Makes for awesome gift for those "special" someones in your life that have no idea about jackfruit latex mess.

Made "Pulled Pork" with canned jackfruit with Trader Joe's ghost pepper BBQ sauce. The "recipe" said to use water to thin it out but that was a horrible idea and it came out way too liquidy. Next time I'd just use the can liquid and sauce with no extra water. It was decent regardless but my buns just fell apart and I had to eat it with a fork.

9 times out of ten I'd just slow roast a pork shoulder instead.

How do I peel these things without getting my hands sticky? No amount of soap gets those nasty white strands off.

Sushi was originally fair food.

It takes cheap ingredients, in most part, but when it's taken as a luxury item, it becomes expensive.

Where the cookers are plenty, it cost close to nothing.

Sushi was, and it is still made of common fish, only the gourmet version that Americans accept.

Exotic (foreign) (as opposed to domestic) things are on average, more expensive or more difficult to obtain than non-exotic goods and techniques. So this statement reads as a non-sequitur.

And imported jackfruit tastes like wet cardboard.
