A ramen or any type of noodle soup can look amazing with lots of toppings, color, and fancy presentation but the moment you drink some of the broth, that is what decides if it's going to be good or not. I remember ordering some chinese noodle soup at a place long ago, and it looked very good, nice amount of meat toppings, nice fresh noodles, etc.. but the broth tasted like nothing, I don't even know how that was possible, it looked like the usual broth but was like hot water in flavor, which made my eating experience horrible despite the meat toppings and noodles being good.

I routinly make ramen that even my pickiest friends think is better than what you can find in any japanese resurant arround here, and I literaly use the noodle blocks from 30¢ instant ramen because I'm a broke bitch. unless it's something thick like udon, the noods are literaly just a vessel for the broth and toppings
