Are silicone basting brushes a meme or they pretty much the same or better then classic bristled ones? Getting a new set and curious if they're anything special while i look around.

I prefer them to traditional brushes, you can chuck them in the dishwasher and they come out clean. Try doing that with your fancy pig bristle brushes and see what happens.

These are great and you can clean them fully vs funk over time that you can’t clean. The only exception is a butter-only pastry brush that will forever remain virgin to butter or egg wash.

Right, thanks anons ill give them a go then.

they work better for thick sauces while the bristle brushes are better for thinner things like egg wash

What a disgusting waste of of quads and trips. Fucking kill yourself you drooling twelve-year-old.

I like how easy it cleans. Also it is highly heat resistant, so there's no problem using it to oil a smoking hot cast iron skillet for example

they suck because the smell of the vinegar sticks to the silicone and never comes out

I use mine all the time for brushing on BBQ sauce. Since it doesn't burn like a hog hair brush it's really useful. Basically any sauce you want to apply on the brill even oil is better with this brush since it doesn't burn.

Why not just try one and form your own opinion? It’s a brush. Except no bristles eventually falling out.
