>Regional specialties can be easily replicated outside of the region

Even something as simple as a cheesesteak is noticeably shittier outside of Philly

I will say, Pizza was awful in Italy, tried it many places.
American Pizza, at local restaurants is way better.
Actually I had better Pizza in both Romania and Poland.

Lao Gan Ma is shit, there are many other better choices for chili oil. The oil is flavorless and it's just bland all around.

It's good only in a pinch or if you get the ones with like meat, beans and shit. Even still, it's only good if you are broke as shit and need something savory to eat with plain bread/rice/noodles.

It's the opposite. When a locality becomes known for a certain dish they tend to rest on their laurels and the quality drops. I was in Tampa the other day and tried a Cubano, it was terrible!

he makes the same facial expressions as someone with down syndrome does. i can see it in his face, but his expressions really turn it into something really retarded. you should see someone with down syndrome act theatrically.

Yeah I've noticed that the Philly Cheesesteak noticeably shitty even inside of Philadelphia, so really, if you think about it, the fact that it's worse elsewhere actually makes it more authentic than in Philadelphia.

Basically, go fuck yourself Phillyphiles, Boston's better. You're Thomas Jefferson and Boston is Benjamin Franklin.

brainlet, amateur take

as someone who has cooked probably tens (hundreds?) of thousands of steaks, well done is by far the fastest and easiest to cook, for a multitude of reasons

if we cook a steak past the customer's requested temperature, it goes into a bin and those are fished out later for well done, so that has a major impact, but that's not a fair point since it's already half-cooked, so...

we also set the temps of the grills down low so that we can manage a lot of steaks, like a couple dozen at a time, all at different requested temps

if we could ramp the heat all the way up and only make well-done steaks, they'd finish ice cold to well-done in like 4-6 minutes flat, and i'm talking 2" steaks or thicker

you'd think the center wouldn't reach well-done at those temps, but you'd be wrong!

Got drunk and tried a Po' Boy from UberEats in Boston last night, biggest disappointment of my life. I genuinely do not believe that anyone at that restaurant has ever been south of MA. Some flavors are region specific.

You had a bad experience, sorry. Try a different place, or maybe they fucked it up this one time.

There's thousands of restaurants in MA. And many of them can do regional food very well. I've traveled across the country many times and have found that you can recreate regional dishes just about anywhere.

The best brisket I've ever had was at a roadside smoker in Vermont, and not in Texas where i've spent months visiting. However, some of the best tacos i have had were in TX for sure. Best Puerto Rican food i had was in DE of all places.

I grew up in Italy, afterwards lived in Bongland, Germany and Japan. With a few trips to America where I tried local shops too. No pizza I ever had outside of Italy was ever better than the good stuff in Italy.
Of course there's also the chance that whoever wrote that post just went to some cheap pizza place in Italy expecting god tier shit for 2 dollars.
