I have Burger King once every year and a half expecting something different. I come in with low expectations and still leave disappointed. I went 3 months ago to grab a whopper and chicken fries. The whopper was shit, the fries were garbage as always, and the chicken fries were cold

Mcdonalds though predictable and standard in their food this is also what is bad about them. A bigmac in the U.S. will taste almost exactly the same in Japan. But being a mush burger (all parts of the burger have the same texture as all the other parts) it's mediocrity at its most average. Mostly looks like advertised.

Burger King is the most authentic and (what a burger should taste like) of the fast food places. This burger has the best taste of any burger. Strangely though as big as the whopper is one seems to get hungry again only 2 hours later. Mostly looks like advertised.

Carls Jr. the famous star is (bizarrely enough) for it's price a mush burger much like mcdonalds. Taste is otherwise somewhat similar to a whopper without the flame grill taste. Mostly looks like advertised.

Jack in the box. The Jumbo jack is a wanna be whopper and is ok but often suffers from very poor ingredients and a "unique" "mayo". When I was a pre-teen this was my favorite, but that was back in the 70's and JITB was a much better FF joint back then. Mostly looks like advertised.

5 guys Way too much food especially if you order fries. This is what I would call a stoner burger a bit on the bland side when ordered with everything. Mostly looks like advertised.

Wendy's single. A decent burger made right when you order it. not too big not too small. also like the whopper minus flame grill flavor.

Whataburger. I whopper with mustard no flame grill taste different but not better. Mostly looks like advertised.

Arby's possibly one of the worst restaurants around. roast beef is almost always way overcooked and dry. On many occasions it even had a bit of a rancid (been sitting out too long) taste. bland, boring, dry, unseasoned, only their gimmich sandwiches are worth eating (though often soggy and smashed). I eat there about once a year just to remind me why I don't eat there. The candy corn of burger joints. Never looks like advertised.

overall accurate take.mcdonalds overall is a waste of money. burger king bugers only good with coupon. carls jr. you go for the chicken sandwiches. wendys actually 'high' tier fast food plus have the best coupons for the best deals. their square pattys tasty but i usually order their chicken sandwiches. jack in the box used to be good for the price but overpriced sloppa these days. 5 guys is and always has been overpriced burgers. not bad, just not worth the price, similar to many other fast food chains. never had whataburger although had the opportunity last week. ended up gogin to some shitty sushi restaurant with a 4.6/5 star rating. my date and i were extremely disappointed. only care for arby's curly fries and glad they're in the frozen section of most mainstream grocery stroes cuz thats all they're godo at.

Burger King requires actual skill to make. I know that sounds crazy. But to perfectly execute what the product is supposed to be takes a skill set a bit higher than McD's and WnD's and everyone else.

The problem is Burger King management sucks, the type of people who work fast food generally suck so when those two things clash you are fucked.

But when you find a good BK, a busy one, it's the best. If they do it right it will always be superior to other major chain burger options, sadly it's a higher hurdle than most wagies can handle.

I think it's a combination of this + nostalgia. When I was out of high school, BK was easily one of the better chains. They had good new menu items, they had the Angry Whopper, and they had high standards on how they handled the grill and storage of items over time. Now they suffer from the same issues of inconsistency that most other sub-par chains worry about. If you go to BK these days expecting the same stuff you got back in the early 00's, you're going to be massively disappointed.

Say what you will about McDs, they've done a pretty brilliant job of making sure that what you get at one location is pretty much the same as what you'd get at any other.

I like that Burger King exists. I never eat there, unless forced to, but I absolutely love that it exists. They sell slightly more food for slightly less money. They have gimmicky specials all the time which, if strictly looking at calories per dollar, are great deals.

Hence, Burger King attracts exactly those people who I want to stay far away from in my daily life. People who would rather save 0.70$ than get a better and perhaps smaller, sandwich. Quite simply, there is something objectively *wrong* with BK’s clientele. Many are homeless or near homeless, many are just off in a visceral way, many need to stack those 0.70$ wins for their pint of Tvarski’s Vodka later tonight, or what have you. Nobody is eating there because they enjoy it.

I used to wish destruction on BK but I really have a newfound appreciation for them. They are doing the job that needs to be done, and that nobody else wants to do. Basically, they keep these “people” out of my life and out of most other establishments. They are the drain on the corporate bathroom floor. Flood the toilets and sinks all you want, it’s still going down those drains via subtly sloped tile surfaces and bathroom problems remain bathroom problems and don’t spread.
