What is the worst culinary region in the world and why is it Eastern Europe? It's all mince and cabbage and mince/cabbage stews, because EE's are too poor to afford good meat.

a region's cuisine is only good if they can grow shit there, since they end up with lots of ingredients that grow there to learn to use. that's why sunny mediterranean and warm france has good cuisines. eastern europe is an icy shithole and the only thing they could find up until modern times is grain, potatoes and fish. so the only thing they learned to cook are soups, dumplings and cabbage stew.

that said I have been to one or two extremely good eastern european restaurants. but I think it was the skill of the chefs rather than the region's food.
