What does /ck/ think of nutritional shakes? Which one's the best?
>inb4 soyboy
stfu, I lost a lot of weight from being hospitalized for some months, so my doctor told me to gain weight by supplementing my meals

>> No.17184378

Usually doctors recommend supplementing with extra protein, not meal replacements.

>>17184378
Then what would you recommend, Dr Anonymous MD?

I'm not questioning your doctor, I'm questioning you. Are you sure your doctor said soyboy shake and not protein shake?

Pure garbage
They give this to girls with anorexia at the hospital, it's like drinking oil

>> No.17184410

Don't buy premixed. Get a blender and some protein powder. 1 scoop powder, 2c milk, 2tbsp peanut butter, and 1 banana. Tastes like a smoothie and it's 700 calories in one go.

>>17184369
Ensure is like medicine almost. It's a thing you give people who won't or can't otherwise eat. They're pretty whatever tasting.

Soylent in a bottle was pretty okay 8 years ago. Tasted like Cheerio milk. Don't know if it still does it whether the changed the formula again. Powdered Soylent was really bad.

Yeah, she said nutritional shake and specifically gave Ensure as an example.

Whole foods are generally preferable no matter what. Most micros just aren't bioavailable in processed foods, especially not these "shakes".

They're good for niche uses, lime the time I recently got 3 teeth pulled. Otherwise avoid.

Unflavored, unsweetened milk or whey protein concentrate. That other guy suggesting blending whole foods in with it is giving good advice.

almost all the store bought ones are filled with garbage
if you're gonna do shakes
get your own clean whey protein powder, some moringa powder (little goes a long way in terms of it effecting taste), unsweetened milk of your choice
that's a easy basic one

For me, it's chocolate peanut butter keto chow. I also enjoy the base powder with dymatize birthday cake protein. You can make it yourself using bulk powders from Amazon with the v1.5 recipe on the website. Carboids can easily adapt it for their macros (the recipe and pre-made)

That’s not a complete meal replacement, both Ensure and Soylent have many other nutrients that you need.

Soylent isn't legal for sale in most countries outside the US due to false nutritional claims and inability to meet the requirements to be considered a nutritional supplement or meal replacement. It's only considered "safe" in the US because it's not actively marketed as being a complete replacement for all nutrition, as that would cause nutrient deficiencies.

>The product does not meet the requirements to be called "Meal Replacement", due to the level of fortification and lack of Phosphorus.
>Sucralose, a non-permitted sweetener in meal replacements of this kind is in every formulation.
>Only "Cafe Chai" contained a second non-permitted food additive (caffeine).

>Calculations showed 13 vitamins or minerals were below the minimum required amount, and 1 mineral was above the maximum allowable amount.
>Required phosphorous was not declared in any of the products.

The guy who made it was a complete dudebro retard with no knowledge of nutrition. There's a reason why it's made fun of and it's not just a meme.

>> No.17184934

>>17184926
To add to this, Soylent refused to alter their packaging or remove the false claims, and have instead been trying to get the EU and Canada to lower their standards for what counts as a "Meal Replacement". What absolute shitbags.
