I've lived in Chicago for my entire life and I've never seen or heard of a horseshoe sandwich. Maybe in Peoria or Decatur, that's a thing, but the closest thing, in Chicago, that we have to a city-sandwich would be Italian beef or, maybe, a Chicago red-hot.
