In Texas, yes. Many of the larger gas stations have tiny restaurants inside where you can order, and they usually have a few tables and chairs as well. Smaller gas stations/convenience stores don't have the room for it and they will usually have premade food that's not very good.

If the violent crime rate is high per capita but it's all concentrated within a specific part of the city then the crime rate per capita tells you exactly nothing about your likelihood of being shot if you never go to that part of the city. I'm not saying the offhand example I threw out there is a great or even good alternative, it's just something I thought of to try to illustrate what I'm talking about. If population density and crime rate among various geographic sections of one city vary wildly from one city to another, it's theoretically possible for one city to have an insanely high violent crime rate per Capita but also be on average safer depending on the neighborhood you spend most of your time in than a city with a lower per capita crime rate where the geographic distribution of crimes committed is less concentrated.

I was really just trying to say I wonder if there's a better metric that could be used for ranking overall cities exists because they're usually big as fuck and have pretty wildly different demographics based on location

One of the pros of bodegas is that a good deal of them are actually 24/7 so when you're done hanging out with your friends at 2 am you can swing by one and grab a chop cheese on your way home or some shit. I have a friend that left the city recently and he said one of the things he misses most is having shit open late cause apparently over there in Oregon shit closes pretty early compared to the city.
