a lot of cheap beer is gross.
beer in glass light colored or clear glass bottles goes bad easily.
some people force themselves to tolerate cheap, skunked beer, but you don't have to. there is plenty of good beer out there.

Cold as shit, get a good brand. Plenty of bad beers out there man. Corona Extra is probably the best thing for a novice that is easy to get. Bit pricey though. If you want to get drunk Hurricane 8 or Natty Daddy are your best beys for malts .
If you still don't like beer just do cocktails man, they're fun as fuck to make and taste awesome when done right.

Pretty sure that's a yes. But quality does help. The better stuff does taste better. But once you have it 3 or 4 times you start to love it.

If you get an amber colored beer they can have a caramel taste that might be pleasant to someone knew. New Castle Brown Ale comes to mind and it is widely available.

but even as a kid I remember loving the taste. BUT then again my grandpa used to give me his beer foam to drink AND when I was a baby my parents put beer in my feeding bottle or watchamacallit

beer is based tho. just stick to a light lager or whatever you want to call it. If you start out on an IPA or stout it might make you extremely confused and want to never try bere again. or if you're in a country with universally shitty beer like France.

try say a Heineken or w/e

>> No.17880936

That’s because you’re treating it as a drink when it’s meant as a fashion accessory.
Here’s how to properly enjoy beer.
What you’re supposed to do is find something that is obscure as possible. This doesn’t have to be objective, it only has to be in the upper obscurity percentile relative to what those who will be within visual distance of you when you drink it happen to typically drink themselves.

As a rule of thumb, look for very dark brown bottles. Opaque is even better. And stick to labels that are mostly brown/beige/tan in color, as they convey “this beer’s heritage predates colored dyes being outside the realm of the wealthy”.
Also, make sure the label is simple as possible. Preferably no artwork, and ideally nothing more than a few non-English words (and perhaps a number) printed with an archaic script that would make Gutenberg proud.
At that point, the only way it can really be improved further is if the bottle has a cork in it, as it will lend authenticity to your character, and the sound of opening it will draw the attention of those around you.

Methodically pour it into a glass, while giving it intense visual attention.
Hold the glass up to the light, close one eye and peer at it with the other.
Then close both eyes, and bring it to your nose.
Do NOT sniff it loudly! Make those around you think your nose is a precisely calibrated instrument.
Then with your eyes still closed, take a sip. One so small that it isn’t visually apparent you drank any at all.

Then for the final act, allow an understated smile to appear on your face, and nod approvingly. Like a proud parent.
Then deliver your line, as softly possible while still being just loud enough for your nearby audience to properly hear.
>Ahh, this is cellaring quite nicely. I’ll open another in a couple of years.
Then proceed to drink the beer as normal.

You will then taste the admiration of those around you. And it will be delicious, whether the beer is or not.

If you dont like:

>Any of the Millers
>Sam Adams, especially the seasonal brews
>Corona Extra or Lite
>Wheat Beers, maybe with a hint of citrus

Then you probably won't ever like beer, which is fine honestly. Not everyone has to like beer.

You might try a dark stout for something with more biting flavor, but I dont tend to like most stouts (especially Guinness) so I wouldnt know what to recommend.

You might try a hard cider too, but that's kind of leaving beer territory at that point.

You might need to desensitise yourself to the hop and alcohol flavours at first, in order to discover the other flavours that can be hidden before your taste buds change. Children hate bitter flavours because in nature bitter=toxic and children don't have the constitution to withstand toxins nor the experience to know which bitters are dangerous and which aren't. Your taste buds don't actually change with age, though, they change with your dietary habits so if you're still drinking lots of sugar water as an adult you won't desensitise to bitterness and won't be able to appreciate things like beer. This is what's meant by things being an acquired taste. Happy growing up OP!

If you're Australian then get this, it tastes like water.

>Is it one of those "do it until you like it" beverages?
Kind of, the first time you drink it it usually tastes too bitter for most people. Most come to enjoy it after a while though.
You can start with "weak" or "watery" beers to get used to the taste, then try stronger ones later. I used to start with mixed beer, which in germany is called "radler" ("cyclist") - a mix of beer with soda. It's sweeter and can be fruitier depending on the soda, so women often like it and younger people get started with it. The only important rule is to drink your beer cool or cold, warm beer often tastes worse.
As for the beer portion of radler (or just normal beer you are drinking) there are differences too. Personally I think top-fermented wheat beer is much easier to drink than pilsner, less bitter too.
And if you had a few over some time and still don't like it, maybe it's just not for you. There's nothing wrong with it, some people just don't like beer.

Pilsner Urquell is great, but if you’re drinking it the States make sure you buy it cans (which I know they offer now). Cans preserve the beer better and prevent it from skunking up on the way over here.

OP you should probably just thank your stars and write us off as idiots. I enjoy beer because it's a carbonated, non-fruity, non-sparkling water beverage. Its a nice low key beverage, but has pretty unfortunate downsides (alcohol leading to alcoholism and messings up nutrient distribution, empty carbs leading to beer belly)

gotta find one you like. typical big name brands in north america suck ass. We've got a local brewery in my area that makes irish red ale considerably better than Rickards.

I personally prefer Michelob Ultra, and Sam Adams as far as light beers are considered. I like stouts the most, if you like black coffee or dark chocolate you might prefer those as well.

Big name lagers are almost always shit, and craft IPAs are usually too bitter for someone that's new to beer.

Hope that helped.

If you wanna get rid of some carbonation, do a deliberate "bad" pour. Pour to the bottom of the glass and get as much foam as possible. This releases a lot of the trapped CO2 in the beer, and makes drinking it less burpy.

I've been told this before and the bite of snack isn't bad but my next sip of beer tastes like ass.

Anyway if op isn't being disingenuous the real answer is continue trying beers in general your tastes do change as you age, and also continue to try different beers. Until you find one you do like which may very well never happen if you moan while you wipe your ass, so be it. You just don't like beer. Who cares. Personally in ops position I simply would not buy beer anymore and just try beers friends bring to gatherings until further notice.
