Picked this up yesterday anons. I had pretty much stopped drinking milk except for tea, but it fucking hits. They did a good job.

Topic of discussion: Post anything that you know is actually vegan but never listed as such. For me I'm trying to find out if the yeast donuts at Dunkin are actually vegan but "technically" not because they fry them in lard or someth (which I don't care about)

Why does the food chain matter

Why do vegans hate real food so much? Like you claim to care about animals but really you have personal issues and you want to be apart of something bigger, not realizing we were born apart of something bigger than ourselves anyways (nature and just life in general)

You aren't going to connect with that bigger part of our experience if you just obsessively worry about ingredients in processed shit food that you shouldn't be eating regardless of what kingdom of organisms you do or do not eat from. I used to be a vegan because I was young and easily brainwashed. The I realized without eating meat animals suffer (they cease to exist and are replaced with grain farming), and that all in all, if done in an ethical way the animals would likely prefer to be farmed. In the wild they are hunted anyway. It's natural to eat animals and for them to be eaten. The turning point was when I saw how militant and psychotic vegans were getting to other humans just for eating food. It was hypocritical. They preached caring about animals, while not caring about the animals they shared a society with. And the hubris of their dishonest intellectual arguments. They think they're better, more intelligent, ultimately more sophisticated (for many it's about elevating themselves in society, not ethics) than others simply for a dietary choice which is always based on fallacious illogical arguments. It's the most dishonest and disingenuous lifestyle choices ever, on par with something like scientology, but probably worse.

One of the cofounders is a professor of computer science at my university (in Chile). They use machine learning to find combinations of ingredients to make the taste more similar to real milk (and real whatever they are trying to emulate, they make all sorts of things). I personally avoid them, since I don’t really care about finding an exact substitute to real milk. I like plant-based “milks” for what they ate.

I found out that I really like tempeh, bought it out of curiosity, expecting to dislike it, because I recently made some saitan dishes and I really seem to dislike seitan, but tempeh seems really nice. A great flavor, good consistency and a nice addition to my cooking repertoire.

If any of you anons make seitan a lot, post recipes or methods of preparation, it always comes out badly for me.

I use vegan milk, cheese, and butter because I'm allergic to real milk and milk products to the point of my throat and eyes swelling shut if I end up with a small amount. Ordering pizza from the few places that offer vegan cheese and then having them add a bunch of meat is entertaining to a point but they often then don't pay attention to the allergy part so I mostly make my own these days.
