assuming the burger patty is still hot, it is lightly steaming the egg, changing how the egg would chew on its own (and reducing the flavor of the crispy side of the egg white). the egg also is insulating the patty to some degree, particularly from the obscene amount of aioli on that top bun.

the main staple dish of nipponland is sushi which is literally just fish on rice
their curry is just watered soup
ramen is just inferior version of authentic Chinese noodles
