no. too bready. dry, filling, a mouthful. this is really eaten, huh?

Wikipedia says it may include butter, salt, and pepper. That's enough for me to smash, and compared to eating the slices separately, the sandwich version probably helps keep butter out of my mustache.

But... if you actually bothered to read the full Wikipedia article, you'd note a few things:

>it's a Victorian recipe intended for sick people while they recover, i.e. people who might vomit up a whole meal
>"This sandwich may be varied by adding a little pulled meat, or very fine slices of cold meat"
>the idea was "revived" in 2011 as a media stunt, claiming it to be ideal poverty food after the recession
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toast_sandwich

So this whole "lol bongs toast sandwich" joke is really just based on a partial screenshot taken out of context.

Honestly? Its actually better than you'd think. The middle slice is toasted then buttered on both sides and seasoned with salt and pepper. For what it is, it's breddy good.

Well done, you saw the same joke as everyone else and then felt the need to demonstrate your insecurity by explaining it as if you were the first person to spot it...

it can be. there's an american variant that is common after thanksgiving and christmas, that consists of stuffing with a bit of gravy between two slices of bread.

Stuffing could be eaten with anything. Single greatest side ever created perhaps.

Do Americans really?

I actually think this would be good.
The crunchy buttery toast on the inside contrasted with the soft, cool and sweet bread on the outside. Think I'll actually try making this sometime soon.
