Congratulations, you're done. Throw oil in it the next time you fry something unless it's something fatty. And heat it first before adding oil or food.

I just made an omelette in mine with 0 sticking. It's not some old heirloom or even a lodge pan, it's some generic cheap 8 inch I bought at the grocery store from some chinese brand with a western sounding name I don't remember. It's a bit thinner than my lodge pans, definitely feels cheaper, but I wanted a smaller pan and saw it at the store and it was like 15 bucks. Works fine.

You don’t need to “clean” cast iron, it’s innately antiseptic.

At most you should just be scrubbing off the burnt-on bits, which you can do with the rough side of a regular sponge, a sprinkle of hot water, and some salt. Then if you want to be extra safe you can spread on a very thin layer of oil.

OP, get a flat metal spatula. Scrape the shit out of the pan while you cook. This is the real secret to getting cast iron to work right. The flat metal spatula will help even out the surface. If your pan is really super rough, sand it first and season once more. Otherwise stop worrying about seasoning. Just wipe with a bitta oil after use and leave it on the stove to dry.

After you dry it on the stove, rub a little bit of oil in it while it's still hot. Preferably one that won't go rancid if you don't use it a lot. If you use it regularly then any oil will do. You just need a barrier between the metal and the air.

I'd suggest cleaning it off again. This time use a soap that has lye in it instead of regular dish soap so you can start back from zero.
Season 3 times. And don't cook food that'll stick for a while.
What I do when I get a new pan is I cook bacon on it a few times before cooking stuff that's prone to sticking.

Possibly you are using too much heat, this polymer seasoning thing isn't as resilient as bare metal and can be destroyed when burned.
Try frying with lower heat so the food is barely sizzling or try seasoning with a different oil with higher smoke point.
