It's not a theory, retard. It's a known common American behaviour. Travel shows talk about it, even intelligence agencies use to sniff out potienal American spies. Why American do it, idk, but it lead to what you described as being called the "european style" of eating—simply because it's different from the American style where the knife is placed down and the fork switches hands
