Oh yeah, last tidbit on DNA. since the production of a protein from a gene is basically just an advanced chemical reaction, if you have more copies of the same gene, you have a bigger effect (of course some genes might turn off when they get enough of their product). I think black people have more copies of the active version of the melanin gene, and women, who have two x chromosomes, have something called a barr body, which is when one of the X chromosomes just winds itself together and turns off almost entirely. This is why calico cats exist, very early when the cat fetus just had a few cells, their X randomly turned themselves off. Then the cells divided and grew into a kitten, but they didn't change which X they turned off, so each patch of color comes from one cell which had an active copy of that color gene. That's why calico cats can only be female with rare exceptions.
