Where's the beef or cheese?

What's a taco pasta salad with just pasta and beans...

Can't even really call it "taco" IMO. despite them probably using taco seasoning for the flavoring

Swap out the penne with orecchiete or ditalini, double the beans, actually fucking reduce the sauce so that there's no ocean of water on the bottom, and throw some fuckin HERBS on that slop. The flavor will become nice and concentrated, and maybe not be a complete insult to the wheat the pasta was made from.

it seems like a side dish, it doesn't really need meat. this is for summer potlucks grill outs or whatever. imagine it scooped out of a 2 pint container with a big ugly label onto a styrofoam plate, next to some sort of mayo based "salad" and a grilled chicken breast.

this is good, but it's designed to be a calorie dense snack for sporting events in cold weather. it seems like the only midwestern cuisine known to outer bugmen is stuff made for church gatherings or outdoor high school sports gatherings.

if one kenji type starts making youtube videos and can sell midwest cuisine as trendy, this kitschy shit will take off so fast. brian lagerstrom could do it with a sustained effort.

My current gf is from Minnesota and when we went to go visit her family up in Brainerd, the food I was served was basically like this https://youtu.be/oiSzwoJr4-0?t=829

The environment was much like in this video too. Judging by what I hear about Minnesota now idk if they're just not pozzed or is all that BS just specific to the Twin Cities?

Wife is from Fargo so I’m up there about 3 times a year. It is really nice & wholesome and the food is hearty (albeit a little heavy on the mayo sometimes), and you’re in hockey heaven if that’s your thing. Unfortunately the cultural poison is starting to filter into the medium sized cities as well. 15 years ago you wouldn’t see anyone who wasn’t either Norwegian or Native in a place like Grand Forks now all the 2nd generation somalis are spreading out from MSP and adopting the American black ghetto identity.

While there are popular combinations of ingredients served in the form of tacos, the word taco itself does not specify a flavor profile, nor specific ingredients, only the way a group of ingredients are served and consumed, the same was as sandwiches.

For example, saying "taco bowl" makes no sense since what makes a taco a taco is the presentation, things inside a generic tortilla you eat folded. Would you call a lettuce and tomato salad with bacon and croutons a "sandwich bowl"? No, because sandwich means ingredients between two pieces of bread. There is no sandwich seasoning either, but for some reason other countries got the idea that tacos are a single and specific dish with specific spices and specific ingredients. Imagine if a country's first experience with a sandwich was corned beef sandwich that was made with meat with a spice crust, then started calling those spices "sandwich seasoning" and called random dishes sandwich-flavored because they had those spices, then started fighting over what sandwiches should have as if it meant something.

This has to be Hy-Vee. I dated a girl from Minnesota and remember the first time we went back to her home (literally nothing but corn fields as far as the eye can see) she showed me around and we went grocery shopping, and I distinctly remember taco pasta salad and other sloppa-tier stuff being sold in the prepared food section. She wouldn't let me get the taco pasta salad because she thought I was making fun of it (I was), but she was excited to buy "beef sticks", which were just locally made slim jims. This was nearly 20 years ago and I still think about that taco pasta salad from time to time. She also lived pretty close to the Spam factory and I regret never going to visit.
