I finally did it. Fried chicken with Takis chips as the breading. It's crispy, spicy, tasty, and juicy as hell. I recommend you try it.

For 6 tender-size cuts of chicken. Smash up Takis Waves chips finely.

Whisk one (1) large egg with the following:
1 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika

Dip the chicken cuts in egg mixture and then coat generously in crushed Takis. Just putting them in there won't be enough, I had to grab mounds of them and press them all over the chicken. I also ran out of egg mixture by the end but made it work.

Then, in air fryer basket lightly sprayed with oil, put in the tenders, then spray them with a light coat of oil also.

Air fry uninterrupted at 400° for 12 minutes exactly. Came out perfectly crispy and juicy.

I did something similar once with Sweet Chili Heat doritos. It was delicious, but very oily.

lol you've never tried/made something unhealthy as an experiment? It actually tastes really good. Probably won't do it again, though. I don't even buy Takis, was gifted some bags.

I use an olive oil spray. Is that somehow bad too?

I certainly wouldn't trust it not to be cut with cheap vegetable oil. If your olive oil isn't NOOAA, Applied Sensory or COOC-certified, there's a decent chance it's not olive oil.

Try chicken fried in crushed cornflakes. Was my grams recipe. Think there was buttermilk in there as well.

Not bad. I've done fried chicken with chip breading before, but I usually use a bit of flour in the chip mixture. I also do the flour, egg, flour method. Except the first flouring is just regular flour, with the second being the chip mixture. Usually comes out pretty well.
This looks like it came out just as well.

Next time use Flamin' Hot Fries. Ignore the retards, using potato chips as a coat is not really any worse (or better) than regular breading or panko.

I tried this with hot cheetos once and the breading scorched waaay faster than normal panko does. Do you have to use lower oil temps if you use crushed chips instead?
