Where are you that it's so expensive? They're around 79¢/lb at some stores here in Philadelphia, but always less than $1,29/lb.

Would you like chickpea recipes?

>> No.4287035

I can't tell if those are garbanzo beans or macadamia nuts.

if the former, then you must be eating some highfalutin organic shit. if the later, then that's a pretty good deal.

Grocers catering to South Asians (Pakistani, Indian, Sri Lankan etc) will often offer chickpeas at lower prices than other grocers in western nations, as will ones catering to west Asians (Arabs, Syrians, Persians etc).

it's not, but dried beans have definitely gone up in price over the last years or two. I think I actually saw the 1.99 per pound chickpeas at wal mart. I go there because their flour is much cheaper than other places, but the beans are more expensive in my experience. Target, however, has beans consistently for $1/lb. Only problem is the one near me only carries black beans, lentils, and pintos. A gambit aimed at drawing in latin american customers I imagine. It would actually cost me less to buy 4 bags of lentils their than a 4 pound bag of lentils at another local grocery store. Kind of pisses me off because I rather buy in bulk.

>walmart flour is significantly cheaper than elsewhere
How cheap, what quality and which type? I use a lot of flour, so if it's cheaper than $1,39USD/5lbs of decent quality AP flour, I'll be bowled over.

I'm just comparing it to the other major grocery store in the area. It's different brands. At WM, King Arthur flour was $3.79 I think, compared to 5 dollars at the other store. Gold Medal was like less than 2 dollars per 5lb bag. Those were the most expensive ones, but the only ones I considered because the rest seemed to be bleached, which I don't buy. What do you usually get?
