You're just shitty and lazy at cooking.
Tofus amazing in every form and dish from being fried and dipped to getting boiled in soups.

This! Absolutely delicious.

I like to lightly fry the outsides before cooking it with anything to give it a firmer texture

>> No.5212219

I like to bake it in the oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees and it gives it a nice crunchy texture on the outside and soft in the inside, season/marinate before hand if you want

>> No.5212245

I like to eat it cold, drizzled with soy sauce, with an iced tea spoon. If I have them on hand I might throw some chopped scallions on top.

>> No.5212313

Cut it into blocks, mix with Coca Cola and honey or syrup. Stir and enjoy!

Tofu soaks up whatever you are cooking/braising it with provided you let it do its work long enough.

That looks like firm or extra firm tofu. It's good in stir fry's or in heavy sauces.

Next time get some of the soft tofu and use it in Asian soups, that texture is great.

Press before frying - Marinate in some way during cooking.

I buy wheatmeal anyway as the basic because it doesn't taste like childhood autism, but still lol at 'dieting' idiots getting their $6 HEALTHHEALTHHEALTH seedy micro loaves and low-in-whateverthefuck margarine

but yeah I agree that commercial white bread is awful. would rather just eat the contents directly off the table.

Baking a sandwich loaf is not highly skilled by any stretch. Seriously, try it. It's way easy.

I don't think I've ever tasted tofu. Am I missing out?

Can anyone post some good recipes they can vouch for? Sweet or savory.

By the way, tofu looks like it can be made into a delicious dessert. I mean. it's creamy and can taste like whatever you put on it, right?

>> No.5213786

>>5213738
there's not much actual taste to tofu itself, that's what makes it so versatile. Mapo Tofu is a spicy chinese dish, and how most people learn to love tofu. There are many different kinds and textures, such as the hard and chewy baked tofu or the stretchy and absorbant deep fried pockets from japan.

>> No.5214208

>>5212089
Oh, shitty Chinese style tofu.
It not for cold.

>> No.5214219

>>5213738
there are several brands and recipes for using silken tofu for desserts, and yes, they do result in a creamy and less calorie dense sweets.

Tofu itself doesn't have much flavor and unless you properly press the liquid from it, can end up making tasting bland even in flavorful sauces.
what >>5213786 says is true, though I've learned to love it on its own.

Relatively cheap, filling protein that doesn't come with too much flavor profile of its own.

its weird, its like eating a crumbly wet cheese sponge. I like it rarely.

>> No.5214967

Add a bit of soy sauce, some chive, green onions and a hint of spice such as that red chili bottle sauce thing you see at asian restaurants. Cook about 15-20 mins on moderate heat. Cut up into little squares about half inch thick by 2-3 inches long. Cook with lid over pan. Tastes delicious and healthy.

thanks for this tip. and thanks for this thread. I've been looking in /ck/ a few days for a tofu thread. I'd like to use it instead of meat. I'm too old to be jumping on a vegan trend. I just think it would be better since I don't eat much meat anyway.

Marinate and bake it in slices, and it's great. (use the googles to find the recipes, they're everywhere)

Also, I use it cold as a salad topping, but I marinate the hell out of it. Cube it and marinate overnight in a mixture of garlic, ginger, sambal olek, soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Tastes fantastic.

Also, it goes in every miso soup or asian noodle soup I make.
