Lol'd at "Best cook" having the lowest score overall.

Been fun guys, I'll miss you and all the good times. I hope the monthly cooking thing is a hit and you all come back and participate. Things like this are the chemo treatment /ck/ needs.

Also thanks out to any and everyone who participated, even the folk who only submitted one or two dishes made it better than what it would have been. Bubble you pulled it off skillfully, take the weekly criticisms with a grain of salt if you're doing this next year. Great job though I'm impressed and thanks a bunch for stepping up and hosting it. Pye, fucking grats. You are a beast and blew nearly every round up. I was worried about the last round but damn. You are a trooper. Honorable mentions to John, Chola, and REI, you guys didn't slouch and were strong contenders til the end.

Thanks Bubble for hosting. I had a great time following this and hope to see you do it again.
What was *your* take on the whole thing? Anything you took away from this?
Just gotta keep your round numbers straight next time around

>> No.5430813

>>5430785
lol. Next year I'll have all the blog post written in advance on a timed delay-publishing thing for ease of copy/pasting into threads.

Other then that I had fun! I wanted to cook along and said I wouldn't and I think that was the hardest part for me :-p

>> No.5430858

HOLY SHIT. I just got on and found the thread. I'm honestly really surprised, I thought John had this in the bag, his dishes were really gorgeous. Wow. Well, thanks guys, to everyone, so much! Thanks to everyone who voted, and thanks to all my fellow contestants, who made some really awesome food and gave me lots of inspiration, competition, and great ideas for future dishes! I am really surprised. And grateful. I already gave a little speech in the last thread, so I'll skip that, but I'm glad the challenge lives on and a big big big thanks to BubbleBurst, and Borneo too, for hosting this and giving their time.
>>5430746
Thanks Cholula, you made some really terrific dishes, and I really enjoyed seeing it all (and wish I could have tasted them!)
>>5430759
Lel, thanks Eth, you're awesome, and I enjoyed your camaraderie and the dishes you made, as well!
I hope everyone still hangs out and does the monthly challenges, because I love seeing all the OC, and it makes the board stronger.

Congrats Pye! And thanks Bubble for hosting! It was a lot of fun and I've definitely improved my cooking/plating skills though the competition. I made a little chart of my progress from last year to this year, and I'm pretty satisfied!

>> No.5431500

>>5431480
That's cool, Rei, getting to see the progression like that. Nice! All your dishes looked lovely and delicious, I'd forgotten about that chocolate ravioli from last year, YUM.

>> No.5431569

>>5431500
thanks! yeah, the chocolate ravioli is the only dish where I liked last years dish over this years

for future years, just a suggestion: I did like how last year, the rounds where a little more specific and not so broad. Dont get me wrong, Bubble, you did a fantastic job this year and it was a lot of fun, but I did like the more limiting themes.

if you're looking for a job, i'd give you $80k a year to be my personal dessert chef

I still think I should have won. Even though I never actually cooked anything, I had much better ideas than these weirdos. IT WAS OBVIOUSLY RIGGED!!!

That's a pretty neat add on.
I don't remember that being there last year...

>> No.5437396

I'd like to suggest that next year, we do a double-blind voting system where participants have to use new random trips each round. That way, no one will know who posted which recipes until the end when the original trip identities can be revealed.

This would avoid, for example, all the jerks who post negative comments about certain trips, and would also prevent favoritism.

>> No.5437434

>>5437396
the problem is that each poster's photo usually has some usual markers. There are some weeks where I can look at the photo and go "Hm, that looks like so and so's submission" and have my hunch confirmed by looking at the name.

>> No.5437545

>>5437396
>>5437434
Yeah, past pretty much the first round, I thought identifiers and trips weren't even necessary since it was easy to gauge who was who from the photography, some more than others.

>> No.5439732

Thanks again, BubbleBurst! Good stuff this year. I just wish we could all do it in person so we could try what these overachievers cook. :-)

>> No.5440865

>>5431480
I visited the challenge last year but didn't pay as much attention or participate. Comparing them to each other I don't get why so many people complained about the themes each week, I like this years better for the most part. This year gave you more freedom and was more open instead of everybody cooking the same thing like ramen or ravioli.

>> No.5441323

>>5440865
The complaint this year was that it was open instead of everybody cooking the same thing like ramen or ravioli.
