Why does /ck/ think this place is shit?

I haven't been to this place yet, and I am genuinely curious as to what you guys think of it. All my friends are acting like its a gift from God or some shit like that.

>> No.5699077

Its generic, watery shit that is just plain, not much to it really.

Agreed.
Its not even Mexican food. Its more like Baja-Meixican, which I like, but dont call yourself a Mexican grill and serve that shit.
None of the employees know how to roll a burrito. Instead you get a tortilla wad full of rice, beans and weak ass hot sauce.
And to top it all off, they are expensive as fuck. You could go to Taco Bell and get more authentic Mexican food for much cheaper.

>> No.5699436

I don't care for it simply because it doesn't have any real flavor. To be fair, not a lot of burritos do. I prefer traditional tacos (with crisp onions and cilantro) or something with a lot of spicy sauce ladled on top. Chicken Mole, for example. Burrito chock full of runny salsa doesn't appeal to me. The individual weak flavors meld into a general uniform taste of "bleh."

Not shit per se, just bland and overpriced and massively overrated.
It just tastes like nothing.
Maybe in other places it is considered good, but here in Texas I don't understand why anyone would go to Chipotle over the multitude of better choices.

The food does nothing for me, but I did buy stock in the company, because it seems exactly what Joe Office Drone would eat for lunch if he lived in a cultural wasteland. So far that bet has paid off.

I hope they're successful with their Shop House spinoff. I have actually tried it, and it surprisingly not bland. Just overpriced and salty as fuck.

>> No.5699649

if you live anywhere near Mexico or around Mexicans it is very bland and very expensive compared to your other options. that being said, it isn't disgusting and it filled me up. Its just a mediocre expensive burrito and the atmosphere had the charm and character of a fucking cell phone shop.

I think it might be popular because Mexican food and tex-mex is terrible in much of the US. Chipotle might be the only passable burrito in states like Maine or North Dakota.

It's a matter of value. When you're talking lunch there are plenty of places where one can get something delicious for under $5. And there are plenty of proper restaurants where one can sit down for a proper meal for just over $10.

Chipotle and it's ilk (what the industry calls fast casual) occupy a weird middle ground. You still order at a counter like fast food, you get something that resembles fast food in what is essentially a fast food environment. But it costs more than fast food. You're supposedly paying for the "better" (allegedly healthier and fresher) ingredients.

That might not be worth it to many customers. Those with the disposable income can, for just a couple bucks more eat at a proper restaurant. Those without may not find it worth the extra few bucks to upgrade to fast casual from fast food.

The only reason to eat at a fast casual place if because you want fast food, but feel like a chump going to McDonald's, Burger King or Taco Bell. That's fine. But it's not worth it to me when the food at these places is so fucking mediocre.

All my friends are either white or asian and my gf is half white half asian. I mean I'm white as fuck and I dislike Chipotle. Its not really a race problem, its just individuals who buy up all the hype, popularity and marketing.

I hate the people who call everyone shills more than the potential companies who shitpost to advertise their business.

Anyway chipotle is good FOR FAST FOOD, it's not better than real mexican food but it shouldn't even really be compared to real mexican food. It's fast food. I think it's a lot better than taco bell but it's also a lot more expensive.

>> No.5700249

Shilling for shills. Get a load of this guy.

>> No.5700315

Everyone on ck always hates on Chipotle but it's not bad for what it is. It's essentially a fast food "mexican" place like Qdoba but slightly better. It's not going to rival any decent local joints but for being a huge chain owned by McDonald's it's decent. A bit pricey though considering you can get better stuff for a similar price at local places.

People comparing it to Taco Bell are seriously fucking retarded. There is a lot of hype over Chipotle though that it doesn't really deserve.

>> No.5700334

>>5700236
>chipotle is good FOR FAST FOOD
>it's a lot better than taco bell but it's also a lot more expensive.
This kind of begs the question of whether one wants to spend almost the cost of going to a restaurant on fast food.

If I'm eating fast food I've already chosen to go against my better sensibilities - I've given up on eating something good, and am opting for convenience. I've decided to eat crap. At that point do I really want to pay a premium for a slightly better grade of crap?

I won't. If I'm going to have a bad meal I may as well keep the cost of it as low as possible. That'll leave me more money to spend on a good meal later. But I understand how a person who eats fast food often would want a "better" option. It's just not worth it to me.

I don't even care if it's not "authentic", I think it's tasty, convenient to my workplace, and not terribly expensive.
