best thing would be to drink gatorade or powerade. drinking just water will rehydrate you, but you're also sweating out electrolytes, so you need something with potassium, sodium, and chloride in there. heck, you could even just mix a little tablesalt into one of the glasses of water and then have a banana.

Anchor Steam probably makes the best lager/pilsner style as far as american beer goes. Very basic flavor but lagers are supposed to be simple/clean tasting. You can taste how clean/dirty the water used is in lagers compared to ipas that sort of mask it with hops. That's why it's harder to brew a good lager compared to anything else...you need good water.

Except for Coors and Yeingling and Sam Adams, most macrobrews are outsourced. American macrobrews are among the best in the world, especially since the hobbyists love to resurrect old styles. The first non-European true Trappist brewery is about to open in the state.

It's like basing all Belgian beer quality on Stella Artois.

Tell your friend to actually understand a product before offering edgy criticism. I wouldn't base my opinion on all Dutch beer because I know exports aren't all they have to offer.

This is a low quality picture of a list attached to a map of microbreweries JUST in the state of Colorado. Ashville North Carolina and Huntsville, Alabama are two other locations where craft beer is going through a lovely popularity. It's inspiring both new style and resurrecting many old forgotten European styles.

California has barely any water to spare, let alone good water (except in mountain regions). The best crisp lagers and Pilsner come from breweries that get their water as tributaries from the Appalachian/Blue Ridge/Smokey Mountains or the Rocky/Grand Tetons.

That's why I can't tell the difference in quality between Colorado distilled "bourbon" and bourbon from Kentucky.

I can't think of any mass-produced European or UK beers and ales that I enjoy as much as Euro/UK microbrews and old styles. I hate Newcastle and Stella and many others that are the swill of said countries.

My point still stands that your friend was making an ignorant judgment of one huge country's selection of quality products based one one sample.

I'll use another analogy if this concept doesn't stick. Because McDonald's McDouble is not that good doesn't mean all burgers in this nation are of the same quality

Cans are better for the beer. You won't notice a difference between the beer, but they let in no light and no carbon dioxide, which extends the beer's shelf life and fresh flavor. Cans always seem to get a bad reputation, but just think of it as a mini keg and it makes a lot more sense.

Not macro. Macros are probably the worst in the world, except maybe the experts of beer I've had from Asian countries. Is this a troll post? beer does indeed age. I aged a ton of my Pelican The Perfect Storm/Mother of All Storms and the Bourbon character fell right out. What I was left with was 24 expensive bottles of mud water that I had to arduously chug down just to get drunk off of to get over recouping my loss. The beer was absolutely incredible when it was first released, though.

I've had other beers that turned sour, some became over carbonated, some lost flavor, some developed sewer-like flavor. Aging beers can be a bit of a gamble.
