So I need to stay away from dairy, I can deal with almond milk, no cheese is fucked but not as fucked as fake cheeses. What is the best alternative for butter? I know there have to be some decent ones out there since they've been trying for so long. Any other good dairy alternatives are also appreciated.

Why do you have to stay away from dairy?

I'm lactose intolerant but I can still eat some butter; it doesn't have THAT much lactose since it's not like you're just melting it into a quart and chugging it.

When I did use butter subtitute I used some brand called like bummel and brown or something, comes in a light blue container. It's not going to fool you for butter but it's decent.

I would've assumed you were just vegan but "I need to stay away from dairy" doesn't really give that impression.

Formed kind of an allergic reaction, I still eat dairy occasionally and just say fuck it but I went overboard recently and it had me all messed up. Just trying to find different ways to get my kicks. If I was forced to go vegan I'd ride my motorcycle into a building.

I've found lightly salted coconut oil to be a delicious substitute for butter. The distinct coconut flavor might be off-putting in some recipes, but it's excellent on bread.

butter can be replaced with any oil depending on the recipe. canola oil is tasteless if i recall well, can be good for cooking. Olive oil (balsamic vinegar optional) on toast or in sandwiches can be bretty gud.
