Good afternoon.

I'm having an English favourite. Sausages, mashed potatoes and peas with gravy. Wife is a vegetarian so I'm making her some nice spinach and ricotta pasta with toasted pine nuts and a salad. Also a creamy garlic sauce.

Not sure what to have for after. I've got some ice cream and a load of apples. We'll accompany the meal with a nice bottle of Rioja. It cost me £7.

What will you have for dinner?

What kind of sausages?
I tend to go for lincolnshire generally.

If you have a spare ten minutes you could stew the apples with sugar and serve it hot over ice cream to continue the english theme.

Instead of green peas, my preference is for field peas.

Either sausage or hamburger steak or chicken fried steak or other meat course, mashed potatoes with either cream or brown gravy, and field peas makes a fine meal.

Asparagus and chicken. Essentially it's the leftovers from making chicken stock. I'll boil a whole load of chicken wings, backs and some thighs (which I don't always find a use for), then having made the stock take the boiled meat, and cook it into a bechamel with white asparagus, aromats and spices, serving with fresh bread. It's a rather pleasant and wholesome winter dish.

Not sure what I'll drink with it, I have the flu, so anything strong.

Different anon here, but I always find Lincolnshire sausages to be a bit cloying in flavour (similar to the fatty taste of mutton in a way) - never really liked them. I typically go for whatever new combinations the local butcher churns out or make my own - in which case they're either german or danish is style.

>cloying
That means sickly sweet from sugar.

Nope, although it's often used relating to sweetness it isn't uniquely associated with it. It can, in general, be used to refer to anything with an overwhelming richness (and that's not culinary 'richness'). Consequently you can consider the thick fat taste of mutton be cloying.

Richness is a secondary connotation and must be paired with sweetness as in a dense cake.
There are no savory foods that can be considered cloying

it's Thanksgiving here and I'm all alone because I couldn't get off work at my shitty part-time work long enough to make the trip back home for the holiday. I have no money because even with two jobs I can't even keep the rent and utilities paid so instead of having a meal by myself I'm eating ramen noodles and probably around midnight a single .38 caliber round.

bon appetit

This is categorically wrong. 'Cloying' fundamentally refers to anything of overwhelming richness, such as to make you choke, and that is its primary connotation.

Two bottles of Orange soda and a cup of Orange soda filled at work
Some Gatorade.
A burrito with Turkey, potatoes, gravy, green beans, and stuffing. From work
And some random bakery trimmings from work.
And enough tequila to make me wish I had more

Unfortunately I don't have a proper table

Veal ragù and mash

>> No.6018535

The meal i had is as follows:
Boiled and slow cooked pork ribs seasoned with jack daniels, garlic, red pepper, sugar, and honey. I cooked it in the crock pot for 6 hours. It fell apart when i took the meat out. I make fried potatoes to go with it, and corn on the cob, all from my own fields. I killed that pig last month.
