I like to do this with most spirits in summer
make a light simple syrup with water and sugar (look up how to do this) and add some lemon juice and finely sliced rind
add some to bourbon and soda, ice and mint
mix well

Anyway, it's a rye so consider the traditional cocktails; Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Personally I like B&B (bourbon and benedictine) or even a rye, cherry heering and orange bitters (with orange twist of course)

Yes, see the sun orbits the earth at a slower speed in summer. Not that the earth turns at a set speed meaning that the greater area exposed in summer means the sun is "up" for longer.
