I have a bottle of Bulleit and it is hot as fuck outside. What's a good summer bourbon drink?

Tell me something good and I'll wander down the shops and pick up some ingredients.

I like to do this with most spirits in summer
make a light simple syrup with water and sugar (look up how to do this) and add some lemon juice and finely sliced rind
add some to bourbon and soda, ice and mint
mix well

also this

Mint julep.

>> No.6151158

You in Australia mate?
Anyway, it's a rye so consider the traditional cocktails; Old Fashioned or Manhattan. Personally I like B&B (bourbon and benedictine) or even a rye, cherry heering and orange bitters (with orange twist of course)

Or cut the bullshit and drink it straight

>> No.6151159

>>6151158
Disregard my post, that is not a rye. The cocktails will be similar, but not "traditional".

Still, good choice

Thanks for the ideas.

For the ones suggesting mint how much do I need? I have a tiny bit in the garden will it be enough?

On a vaguely related note, how much lime is suppose to go into a gin rickey? I put one. I think that was too much.

That's enough for a few garnishes or flavour in one muddled drink.

The point of a rickey is that you can adjust it to your tastes with the lime wedge

I'm not OP, I'm in upstate NY, it's fucking -5.3F here w/o wind. I responded to an anon that didn't seem to know that it's summer south of the equator and winter here north of it.

Oh and it generally gets more pronounced given the land masses and trade winds and other factors the higher the latitudes get, upstate is NY is up there and we get ripped this time of year. It's to be expected and it has to do with the axal or axial tilt of the earth.

The reason it's hot in july is because the sun is up for longer. Not because of some hippie shit you saw on tumblr.

Yes, see the sun orbits the earth at a slower speed in summer. Not that the earth turns at a set speed meaning that the greater area exposed in summer means the sun is "up" for longer.

Last time I had Bulleit was my birthday. I had just turned 21, so the first bar I went in to gave me a free drink. FF two hours later and you best believe I'm at every bar saying the bouncer said I could get a free shot cause b day.

I'm such a drunk asshole, I go into this nice place and I tell the bartender my story. He doesn't believe me, so he goes and gets the bar manager who I also tell my story to.

She looks at me and goes, "the bartender didn't say that". I go, "yes, he did". She goes, "well I'm telling you no so either buy something or get the fuck out"

Had never been on that end of getting the boot from a bar. I felt supremely retarded

It does happen with dumb chicks. They're into astrology and worshipping crystals and other strange shit.

That's very different from astromony and the chours of our planets and moons and our solar system and our galaxy and everything within our universe and other things within it.
