12-16 ounces are often used in steakhouses that specialize in offering meat as a treat. Often-times they offer 24-32 oz portions eating-competition style, the meal is free if you can finish it within a certain amount of time.

By no means is it a normal portion, it's something people enjoy likely once every few months, or in my case, a year.

People and resturants can change, but last time (litterally the last time I want to a Dennys there was a piece of paper napkin on my fork and something smeared on my friends ice tea plastic glass. Not to be too rude, but that sure don't look like any "30 oz porter house"I 've ever seen. Cooked to death and covered in soy, glaze or other some such glop. A inice potatoe covered in almost sour cream, maargarine,cheap chesse and " nuced baco bits. No offence, but I;d rather eat at waffle house The t-bone is cheaper and better cooked you can get it with eggs and hash browns or waffle, if desired, and if a fight breaks out there are usually 2-3 cops or other law, with guns. I'd rather eat a gas station or pool hall hot dog then Denny's..Seriously, almost anything served you can get fresher in the frozen food asile at any grocery store.In fairness, maybe not all like that, but the ones I have been to are fronts for .. whatever..Really not that pickey but..

What does "sauce made tableside" mean at a place like denny's? They put the water and powder in one of those protein shake bottles and shake it while you watch?

I don't think I've been to a denny's in maybe 20 years, so forgive me if my understanding is a little off. I thought it was a cheap chain restaurant that served very bad microwaved food to poor people, but it was open 24 hours so it had a loyal customer base of stoners, cops, and people working odd jobs?
