>Wait I need a membership to shop at Costco?

I tried to walk in a Costco today and some guy stopped me at the door and asked me to show him a membership card. I told him I didn't have one, and he refused to let me in without one. WTF? What type of company forces you to have a membership card just to walk through the door? Don't they realize they will lose customers by demanding such ridiculous bs?

you don't need to be a member to eat at the costco food court. you need to eat there often enough to become a regular and some time--you don't know when--a man whose appearance and demeanor can only be described as average--a bit TOO average, as if it was manufactured to fit in with humans--will ask you how the hot dogs are today and you must respond: cheap and filling. he will slip you a costco membership and disappear into the crowd

say anything else, and you will vanish forever, and for everyone else tomorrow's hotdogs will have an unidentifiably new meaty taste that no one can seem to put a...name...to

This.

Also people who are known and have their pictures and names on record aren't going to steal when they can be readily identified. Shoplifting is a huge profit cutter and it does have a very tangible effect on prices. You're less likely to shop lift from a company who knows who you are (sure, it still happens though). If they let just anybody in, shoplifting would go up.

In regards to op about losing customers, the method works to prevent stock loss and the exclusivity means people bring their friends and then they get memberships and then because they don't want to waste the money they paid, they go to costco often. It's a clever and perpetual cycle thst both boosts attendance and loyalty, works as an advertising campaign (word of mouth bc of exclusivity) and prevents shrinkage. It's super clever, but your ego of hurr I'm a customer I know how everything is run and what businesses should do if they want muh money got in the way of you considering these factoids.

I have that Executive Star membership and earn 2% per transaction. We get two cards, so I gave the other card to my aunt who shops for the entire family.

At the end of the year, I usually get a check for $140-$160, which covers my membership for the next year. It's beautiful.

In my state all you have to do is say you're here to buy alcohol. Not sure why, but stores aren't allowed to require memberships to sell alcohol.

So whether I'm near a Sam's Club or a Costco I always just walk in and say that I'm here to buy beer, and they wave me through. Then I head straight for the food court and do my thing.

Missouri btw.

i saw this and went and made one.

in practice, there's no way to cook the egg through quick enough that the cheese in the middle doesn't completely liquify and seep out. if you put it on high, it burns while egg is still uncooked on top; if you put it on low or medium, the egg cooks through by the time its ready to come off, but it also falls all apart.

don't make egg cheese grills with a hole in the bread. its wrong. just cook the egg separate.
