Thanks to all who participated in this year's /ck/ challenge! I will be posting the winner in my next post, as well as the final scores, metrics and such :-)

I will begin uploading verticals unto the booru hsortly. Should anyone want to make amendments to theirs (or make new ones!) either send them to me by email or post them here.

This thread will also be the feedback/post-mortem session thread, so please, comment away! Things to change? Praises? Bitching? It all goes here.

As the general vote was to make the final round a sudden death round, congratulations to Spork !gVOKCoJgwg for the victory!

Congrats Spork!

I liked the round themes a lot this go around but I really wish we would change the final round from signature dish to something more creative or interesting. I feel like the last round is always anti-climatic because no one really has a "signature dish". I feel like we have all of this energy going into the final and it just peters out and isn't really special. No idea what we would do instead though...

Thanks again for putting this together BB, you did awesome as always!

How would you classify the final round? Make it a wider theme?

>> No.6506173

>>6505952
Just a lurker but I'd agree. The final could be the recreation of a famous chef's signature dish. There could be options. Open skies always make creativity hard. It's like telling an artist to draw anything. Or a comedian to say something funny..

maybe final round could be a 3 course meal?

Speak for yourself! One can always make something special.

Seven courses, must include cheese plate.

Thanks again for hosting another year Bubble and to all those who participated and voted. Will probably see you all again next year.

You may be on to something there. Not seven courses, though, that's too much. Maybe just a four course meal. Just to shake things up next year.

>I feel like the last round is always anti-climatic because no one really has a "signature dish".
>Speak for yourself! One can always make something special.

Yeah, both the dishes I won with were dishes that I make regularly and for company and friends, so I'd say that's a signature dish.

Also, Congratulations to Spork!

We need Pyewacket back. I understand she doesn't want to kick everyone's asses year after year and turn this into the "who comes in second behind Pyewacket /ck/ Challenge", but let's face it, she brings up the level of competition.

3-5 courses sound good.
Maybe increase the round length to ten days to two weeks. People seem to get really short on time. Plus get mod to sticky it, since the board moves so quickly these days

I think you should go back to the old system of requiring verticals and recipes and other details of the food be posted. It's difficult to judge food based on nothing more than one or two blurry photos. at least with a recipe and some preparation information, people can say, "well, that's a fucking weird flavor combination". Like when someone posted that banana with cheese earlier on.

Increasing the requirements also would mean, I think, that people would take the whole challenge more seriously and not drop out at random throughout the contest. I'd much rather see five people willing to beat each other to death with ladels in order to win the coveted Apron rather than twenty people who can't even be bothered to post a photo once a week.

If that happens, I'd say it'd be a good idea to make the rounds a bit longer to give people more time and flexibility planning and cooking.

The first year, some stages were elongated to last 2 weeks. Also, only one elimination per stage.
In the post-challenge thread, most contestant agreed that it was way too long (about two or 3 month in total). Also, the score system was made so some could skip a few weeks and still be in the challenge.

Now, it's way faster, and more challenging. It's hard to come up with a good idea, find ingredients and realise it, especially if it's the first time you cook it.

We xould have something in between. And monthly challenges too, that was nice.
And less snow during the grill thread.

If we could have plenty of motivated Anons, that would be nice too. I think this is the main problem...

That was Squee's thing. I haven't seen him post (using his trip) in over a year.

>> No.6519486

Congratulations Spork.

I'd love to sponsor a coffee mug next year (and by sponsor I mean sponsor and buy a coffee mug).

I am probably in the minority, but I worry the challenge takes too long. There were weeks I did not check the thread. I also would understand if there's nothing we can really do about it.

>> No.6519493

Also, having it in the Summer or Fall would be nice. I imagine some competitors would like to use stuff from their own garden.
