Frozen fruits, for example, are nearly always better than fresh around here and the same is true of both peas and kernel corn but frozen broadbeans/fave, onions (excepting pearl), bell peppers and okra aren't nearly as good as even the lowest quality fresh ones while, depending on application, frozen and fresh broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts and other brassica are about evenly matched.

It's true. Immediately after you pick a fruit or vegetable, it begins to die and break down, and loses nutritional value (the rate varies depending on the plant). Since veggies are flash frozen almost immediately after picking, they spend less time decomposing compared to fresh vegetables.

Texture-wise frozen is always worse, since freezing destroys cell walls, but if we're just talking nutrition, it's always the better choice

They only cost about 15-20 bucks, require no filters or electricity, and the coffee tastes way better than from an electric drip. Also, if you live alone and only make a cup at a time they are more practical anyway.

The simple fact is moka > press, for all of the reasons that you've listed. But the moka produces a much better, and less bitter result.
They're also less finicky and easier to keep clean, plus you never get bits of gritty grinds in your beverage with a moka pot.
Also, the mere fact that they are able to extract from a finer grind than any press could manage is evidence enough of their superiority.
Mokas are generally cheaper too.

He actually pays someone $10 to peel, cook, season and whip his potatoes, AND package it for him in a frilly, lightweight but water resistant container. What convenience! His life must be awesome."

Let me guess: you're mad that someone hasn't fallen for your emperor's new clothes bullshit, right?

I know for a fact that the vast, vast, VAST majority of people detect zero difference between automatic drip, a process that requires no extra attention beyond loading the water in the reservoir and the coffee in the filter basket and takes about a minute to set up v manual pour over drip, a process that requires constant attention to pour and repour and repour hot water and takes much more of a coffee drinker's time because of it.

And how do I know this for a fact? Because a good friend of mine owns a cafe, sells manual pour over drip coffee and charges $3 per serving yet sells automatic drip coffee interchangeably as well when the shop gets crowded and she needs lots of coffee really quickly.
She's been running this place for six years now, receiving several dozens of customers each day and hasn't had a single person yet mention or notice a difference. Not. A. One.
I think a sample size of approximately 182000 is large enough to be able to safely say that there is no discernible difference whatsoever.
But you go on and continue your silly ritual if it makes you feel better than us plebeians who use automatic drip machines. :^)

There are three sorts of people that upset /ck/'s resident hikikomori:
• people who enjoy posting OC
• people who can actually cook
• people who know more than they do

Unless you were trying to troll, if someone comments negatively to something you do here, chances are, it's one of those friendless faggots and you should continue doing what you're doing.

I just wanted to see his justification for it. I take pictures whenever I see something weird or whatever at the store. There's not really anything better to do with them than post them here.

I can also cook pretty well but I have ugly plates and exceptionally shitty lighting in my apartment so I tend not to post stuff I actually cook.

I make something similar. Onions and chopped spinach salted and sautéed in olive oil or butter until just wilted, then mixed with chickpea flour to form nuggets which are then breaded and deep-fried.
Despite being vegan, they're pretty good.

Speak for yourself, Rhodesia boy. My high end grocery stores have a diverse clientele because smart, well off people from all over the world want to live in nice areas. Whereas where you live the only brown people are poor, uneducated descendents of slaves. You have a lot in common with those ex slaves which is why you think about yourself in comparison to them, as opposed to decent people.

Well, take a trip over to southern Italy. We make a lot of veg nuggets where I'm from. The most common is eggplant/aubergine and it's also my favourite.
Roast an eggplant over coals, put it in a paper bag, fold it shut and let the eggplant steam by its own residual heat for 20-30 minutes.
Remove the char then blitz the pulp.
Strain of excess liquid, then mix chopped garlic and parsley into the pulp and some chickpea flour then salt to taste.
Form balls, bread them and fry.

It is! Usually, we put a cube of smoked cheese of some sort in its centre, too, usually provola/scamorza.

Never had the spinach ones stuffed with cheese, but some people add grated parmigiano to them.

Not really, since I cook by feel. I gave a guideline in >>6610880, though.
I use a big eggplant, 3-4 cloves of garlic and a whole mess of fresh parsley in mine, though, then just enough chickpea flour until it feels right.
That's the best I can suggest, sorry.

Again: I don't measure so I can't give a recipe outright.
Also, I'm not from Sicily, so while my region does make them, we don't do it the way the originals are made so you might not like them as much.
Basically, for us (I don't know how Sicilians do it, really, having never had one outside of my region), we make them from leftover risotto and never from fresh. Just mix in a beaten egg or two, lots of grated parmigiano and some peas, form into balls, put a piece of cheese or mozzarella in the middle, bread them and deep fry.
The most common risotto dishes from my area are risotto alla sorrentina and risotto ai friarielli. The first is made with false ragù (tomato sauce made with the whole ragù process, but lacking any meat), put into a baking dish, top with a layer of parmigiano and baked until browned on top. The other is made with chopped bitter broccoli. It sometimes also includes seasoned pork mince. We don't usually make arancini with risotto ai friarielli, but it's not unheard of, either. It's usually the other one.
Sorry I can't be more precise.
