I make plain spaghettini daily, it's easy, I like it. I don't know much about cooking, what are some simple things I can add to the noodles I make everyday to start learning how to cook?

Thanks, anon.
Okay, so some quality Parmesan cheese. What about the eggs? Just sliced hard boiled? I'm trying for the cheap version so no alfredo unless it comes in a packet.

>slice some garlic
>put it in pan on medium/medium-high heat
>add halved/quartered cherry tomatoes
>add basil
>let it sit in pan for a minute or two, be sure not to burn the garlic
>add a bit of water, around I don't know 50 ml I guess
>let it cook a bit
>add some pasta water (optional)
>season to your liking with salt, pepper, oregano, whatever
>put everything over your spaghetti
>add some mozzarella and fresh basil
>enjoy

You can also start this off with shrimp. Quick, easy, delicious. It's one of my go-to dishes.

Similar question to OP,
Cutting fitizen and my diet contains a lot of fage 0% yoghurt and turkey breasts, currently I mix a teaspoon of honey with 400g of yoghurt and put paprika and tobasco on my turkey and eat it with cherry tomatoes or lettuce.
Sometimes I fry 3 eggs with no oil and put a little hothouse on it.
I'm not a bad cook and I enjoy cooking, but can anyone give me a few suggestions for extra flavour or variety?

My favorite go-to spaghetti dish is spaghetti aglio e olio because of how simple it is to make. While the spaghetti's boiling, just gently fry some garlic in olive oil and they'll finish at the same time. Some parsley, red pepper, and grated parmesan and you've got yourself a tasty meal or side dish.

Also Carbonara is great, people have suggested it.

The mozzarella makes it quite creamy and you really don't add that much water

>> No.6626426

Take a few tablespoons of olive oil and thinly slice garlic. Cook on medium low until the garlic barely turns brown. Poor over the pasta.

Rice. I'm lazy, so I'll sautee and cook my spaghetti and rice in the same pot. I'll then dress it up depending on how I feel.

you can also just use this as a base template, adding stuff like creamed spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms/proteins of your choice etc. You can thicken it like alfredo by adding butter and cream, or use it to flavor a different sauce.

Heat some olive oil in a pan, throw in sliced garlic, halved cherry tomatoes and a handful fresh basil, salt and pepper. Sauté for a few minutes until everything starts to soften. Throw in a handful of yer pasta and toss until heated. Done.

Could add shrimp or diced chicken to this too.

This. Have a little basil plant in your kitchen window and throw that in too.

OP, one of my basic "pantry" ready meals is making a quick pasta sauce with garlic and olive oil. Warm up some spices with slices of garlic and herbs like rosemary, oregano, fill pan with homemade breadcrumbs (just grate the heel of some bread into the little nonstick with your herbed oil. Toast bread crumbs til crispy. Toss pasta with the flavorful oil and texture of crispy breadcrumbs. If I'm feeling fancy, I'll remove the breadcrumbs once toasted, and set aside for a topping. Then I'll add a tsp of flour to the remaining oil in pan, proceed to roux step, and then bechamel or cream sauce from there. Give the pasta the creamy parmesan heavy sauce, and top with layer of toasted garlic and crumbs.

OP, do you make cold salads ever?

I love a cold peanut pasta salad kind of "satay" style flavors. While pasta is cooking, saute some sliced red onion and carrot in oil, add a good TBSP or two or crunchy peanut butter, tsp of chili paste, and sesame seeds, and stir in the hot pan until the peanut butter gets a touch "melted" and it's more easy to blend. Remove from heat while hot, then incorporate soy sauce, ginger, and TBSP of brown sugar. Optional fish sauce. Toss with pasta. Add a good handful of cilantro and chopped cucumber. Chill or enjoy warm (if you can't wait!). Amazing the next day. If I take them to a potluck, I'll add a bunch of black sesame and more cilantro on top, maybe some grilled chicken.

Oh, I forgot, I usually add lime zest as well.

This one is knockout - Cook your spaghettis, save a cup of the cooking water (starchy). Melt a big spoonful of goats cheese in a skillet with some crushed garlic (you can get away with philladelphia at a push, but proper chèvre is better). Stir in the pasta water a splash at a time until you get a sauce consistency. Toss in the pasta and some smoked salmon strips. Grate some lemon zest and some parsley on top.

Sautee onions in butter/olive oil with chopped garlic, add sliced mushrooms. Mix with cooked spaghetti. Delicious.
