Let's end this debate. Pic very related.

>> No.6779110

I didn't even know there was a debate.

Slice is objectively superior because every piece can be made relatively consistently. (Same size, crust, etc).

Squares only (sort of) work if your pizza is square, in which case you're doing it wrong in the first place.

Square for basic ones like the OP or garlic pizza are acceptable, as they allow for quick bites and aren't encumbered by toppings.

Once the pizza has at least two toppings, it necessitates a slice cut. The handle allows for better manipulation and the point-to-edge method of eating minimises the chance of falling ingredients.

Do places outside of the Chicagoland area do the square cut on round pizzas?

95% of the time you order a thin crust from a non-chain pizzeria out here you'll get it cut into squares.

Thin gets squares, everything else is tris.

Unless it's the biggest pizza, that gets squares regardless of crust thickness due to the sheer size of the slices.

That's a blatant lie, anon. Square pieces have for more possible symmetry operations.

Somewhat lacking compared to the four lines of mirror symmetry and several options for rotational symmetry.

There's a reason square cut is called party cut. You can just grab a couple pieces, throw them on a plate, and nibble on them like hors d'oeuvres while drinking and socializing.

Maybe you only want 1 or 2 pieces of sausage, but a lot more of the veggie. With a party cut, you can more easily mix and match pieces from different pizzas, such as the spread you would see at a party.

Basically, it makes sense that you guys wouldn't understand the purpose of square cutting pizza, since you're all basement dwellers and stay at at home moms.

>> No.6780074

>>6780017
I'm talking about the pizza, not the individual slice.

Every slice through the middle of a pizza creates a line of symmetry (assuming the other slices are equally spaced and through the middle as they should be).

If my calculations are correct, a square sliced pizza has a maximum of 4 lines of symmetry (vertical, horizontal and two diagonals) and potentially zero lines of symmetry. A triangular sliced pizza (with evenly spaced slices) theoretically has infinite potential lines of symmetry and a minimum of 2 lines of symmetry.

Dingdingding.

This is the thread winner and obviously the only (other besides me) person in this thread who knows anything about pizza.

They are called party slices. Donatos does them by default on all their pies. Now some poseur needs to ask what Donatos is before just googling it one tab away.

And for a party slice pie, the ingredients are forced to be arranged so that every bite gets each of the toppings involved. In this, party slices are the Texas One Bite Chili of pizza, and are far superior in quantity and distribution of topping due to the care required than those sloppy chintzy NYC excuses for pizza.

How many pizza places have you worked? Also, I don't think the question you were thinking made it into your post. I don't expect the guests to cut it into anything - that's why it's party sliced. So they don't have to.

The party sliced pizza is most commonly found in situations exactly like >>6780140 describes. People can take small pieces of several different kinds. So they can try the pepp, the mush, the BO and pepp, and the GO and ON and not have to eat half of a fucking pizza.

And I don't think the topping distribution thing registered as strongly as it should. So here's a pic of what a pizza should look like. That one is about to be party sliced.

Now you could say, yeah but you could pie that one and it would still have that many pepperoni - except pie places don't put that many. Ever. Because the pie slice is basically a ripoff technique.

I see your point, but even then a rectangular pizza would be preferable imo. But of course if you can't order any that's a perfectly fine solution. The pizza place I worked at in Indiana would slice pizzas over 12" into squares and 12" and below into slices. The rationale from the owner is what has been said several times ITT: bigger pizza is likely meant to be shared amongst several people who only will take a few pieces, while smaller pizza is likely just for two or three of people who will eat by the slice.

Look on the right hand pizza to get find out what they look like, they're brown and mushy because they've been heated.
then you'll notice they're hidden all over the over two.

You can use cheese and tomato as a filling for an omelette so I guess spreading it on top instead of folding it inside would be okay too.

You wouldn't want to bake an omelette in an oven orput it under a grill though, it would become dry and rubbery very quickly. I'd heat up the tomato sauce in a saucepan first so it's hot when you add it to the omelette (while it's still cooking in the pan). Add it before the omelette is done, the heat from the sauce should finish cooking the omelette and melt the cheese at the same time.
