Kind of surprised that no one's made fun of the US as an answer, although that's what I'd go with. While it's hard to pin-point any specific food that's uniquely American, the food scene here is amazing in that you can find literally any type of cuisine and people are constantly experimenting and trying to expand on each other's ideas.

I guess you can say the same about any Western country with a large immigrant population, but the sheer size of the US makes our food scene almost ridiculous.

>> No.6811564

Honestly for the size of the US there's not a lot of cultural differences within the country compared to the rest of the world. Not very long history

Mexico, who has several regions selected by UN as a world culinary treasure. It is the almagam of East meets West hence the prevalance of Asian ingredients like cilantro, tamarind, etc.

France on the other hand, had to beg and lobby (pay) for the UN to finally consider their cuisine.

Asia, particularly South-East is second followed by Mediterranean.

You're obviously not from the US. Culturally, the East Coast, West Coast, Midwest, and South are all very different. You can further break these regions down into New England, Pacific Northwest, etc. Then you have Hawaii, Alaska, and the territories. Crazy states like Florida and Texas have their own kind of culture as well. Just because we speak a common language doesn't mean that everything else is the same.

this. We call Florida's contribution to the culinary world a cuban sandwich. It's two kinds of pork and a pickle sliced thin long ways and mustard on pressed cuban bread. It sounds weird but it's an incredible sandwich if you go to the right place (Ybor city, Miami, selected places in Orlando)

Best techniques is France without a doubt, with Japan coming in second.

Best creativity and flavour is China. I personally like Italian best when it comes to flavour but I can't deny that Chinese cuisine has a HUUUGE range. Schezuan is my fave.

Best fusion I've had is in multicultural countries like USA and Australia and oddly, South Korea. That really is odd because Korean food is generally shit tier, but Korean-style American food is the best I've ever had in my life.

Overall, I would place China as the top just for the sheer range of techniques, flavours and incredible creativity, even if imo the presentation of dishes falls a bit flat compared to haute cuisine.

I think it depends on the person, and thus you wouldn't be able to derive an answer of a true "power house."

America has awesome diversity in their food, Germany have so much in the way of robust flavors, France do the staples well (bread, cheese, wine and beer) India for their use in 'erbs and the such, mekong delta for their use of literally every animal and its parts and so on and so forth.

So it depends on the person. Like the basics? go France. Like flavor explosions? Germany. Have no idea what to eat but you want it to be tasty? America. Like eating strange and unknown flavors of the world/local alleyway? Asia.

Just my opinion though.

And i like my basics. So i think France would be a good option for me.

>shit quality of standard ingredients
Just because the cheaper stuff is more popular doesn't mean that's all we produce as standard. That's the difference. Our standard is not so much standard as simply what is more popular. We let the markets define how much of what gets produced and try to keep the pricing and labeling as honest as we can from there. The result is some of the best cheap stuff you can get and plenty of the better stuff for when you want it, making your point simply wrong.
