For the Usa food experts: why everything has to be bittersweet or spicy?

I mean, you americans like your bbq with sweet sauces, who the fuck will like to eat swetened meat for gods sake! Every food, if not a mexican rip off with lots of hardcore pepper, is fucked up with honey, mapple and , brown suggar based sauces.

I think that some people lost the plot of the thread: "why everything has to be bittersweet or spicy? so sais OP.

Fact is not everything is either one, in our 300 million population we have lots of variation, so OP, why don't you define everything? You inspecific coward sack of shit.

I've proved it to myself. Took a friend from Brasil to order those and I tried them out for the first time and was like wow, these are great. Then I impressed a chick from Brasil by ordering them, she was like wtf? How does this New Yorker know about our secret chicken hearts?

I think I wet her panties.

Ok, maybe I'm not being fair to your cuisine. But I saw several episodes of american tv shows like some sort of food trucks competition and man vs food or something, were a guy travels around US tasting food, and I found that they always explore the same kind of food that is the bittersweet or extremely hot pepper dishes.

Authentic American BBQ isn't very sweet. The sweetness is a marketing push from the condiment industry that wants to use cheap fructose corn syrup as their main ingredient and keep everyone diabetic.

I smoke ribs and pork shoulder all the time and never use any sauce. The only sweetening agent is some molasses in the brine before cooking.

Eel with barbecue sauce is great

Most processed foods are loaded with sugar, fat and salt because that is what people respond to. When that's all you eat, you expect everything to be that sweet.

The thing that non-Americans on this site don't understand is that once you're an adult, no one forces you to eat that stuff. You need to use your judgement to decide what is good to eat and what isn't. It's their right to sell that crap to people, but unless you have good parents or do research yourself, you won't be able to learn what is and what isn't good to eat.

They teach nutrition in health classes to students, but I really don't trust the USDA. They are too cozy with lobbyists from agro-giants. In the 70s they recommended using more cheese to food producers and restaurants. In the 1992 food pyramid they recommend eating large quantity of grains. More dairy and grain got sold, but at the expense of increased obesity rates.
