True. But the hamburger sandwich, which is what most people think of when they think of 'a hamburger,' was first made in America.

No. It's one of them, though. And, to be honest, it's not bad. I quite like it, in fact. Oddest thing, that.
What you could have said is that most American cheeses try to ape at already well-established European cheeses rather than try to come up with something of their own and either always fall short of their target, charge too much for it or both. The reason they tend to charge too much is because American labour is very, very costly and they can't make good cheese on the same scale we can. However! I read a few months ago that some company in the US or other is started to try their hand at cave ripening, the first stateside attempt at it, ever. So we'll see.

When Americans do come up with their own cheeses, though, they're actually pretty good and I recommend you try some. :-)

Excluding Danes, I'd believe it. Source, though? My country doesn't eat a lot of sugar, but when we do have desserts, they tend to be fucking doused in the stuff. Ick.
