If you're just getting into rum, Zacapa 23 from Guatemala is the canonical entry-level dark rum. But beyond that, it's personal taste. Learn the geographies and you'll figure out what you like best. I prefer agricoles for dark, and central americans for light, with a couple of years of age. Ten Cane is another great light rum but it's in its own weird category, not to mention pretty much unobtainium. I find light rums ultimately more interesting because they are underappreciated and the greats tend to get killed off by the manufacturer after a few beautiful years of love and life, and then spergs squabble over the NOS bottles

I got to two liquor stores which are close to me. One looks at me like I'm absolute scum since I buy booze frequently and drank drive back there once to get more and the same guy was still working so I'm pretty sure all the staff know I'm an alcoholic and a drink driver.

Yes you will. Because you get to a point where your body starts to give up and a bender makes you unable to consume anything but tap water for 3-5 days. This is the only reason I don't drink every single day, because my body quits. It's not a choice

Used to be that my worst would be a bottle a night once or twice week. Now it's virtually every night. Physically, I seem fine although I have noticed sore shoulders and the like sticking around much longer than previously although that could just be attributed to regular ageing.
I'm sure my internal health is abysmal but he only noticeable effect has been weight gain.

Been drinking since I was 16 but started binge drinking frequently on my own when I was 21-22.
25 now and drink like 2 cases of beer a week. Only reason it's not more is because of my job. Also it's a physical warehouse job so that's why I'm not AS fat as I otherwise would be. Oh boy. I remember when I was going through my blazing alcoholic phase, I had a steady rotation of liquor stores I'd go to because a fifth of cheap vodka a day was my poison. There was one store where an older asian woman worked, and she stopped taking my ID because I was in there every few days. She was there to see it escalate from me buying just a pint every few days to a full fifth.

There was another store next to the campus I work at, run by mostly younger guys. One time, after I had been going there for a while, the guy came up and suggested I get this other brand of vodka because it was a little cheaper, but somehow not as shitty. Told me it would be a little less harsh and save me cash. Like fuck, he knew.

I need help anons.

2 days ago I had a six pack and a few sips of vodka and I passed out. Instantly. I woke up to paramedics trying to move me. I am 300 lbs and its not a lot of booze for me spread out over a day. I couldn't walk or even crawl.

The paramedics said that what happened to me could be that I was diabetic.

I'm a functioning alcoholic right now. I have $12 in my chequings right now, and being Canadian, that's nothing - that can hardly get you a 6 pack. So, I convinced my mother to buy me some for my birthday. A good excuse.

I'm slowly becoming an alcoholic. But I can't even bring myself to care. I would be perfectly fine drinking myself to shit and finding out I have cancer once I'm in my 50's. I don't care much anymore.

I'm certainly not as bad as some of you - but my friends/family don't know how much I drink. It's getting pretty bad. So are them drunchies. I gained 5 pounds.

I think it's it for me, guys. I think I've finally fucked myself over.

Yesterday, I got sent to the hospital from work. I hadn't been morning drinking, but I barely remember what happened. I remember showering, and getting ready, but I don't remember getting to work, punching in, anything. The next thing I know there's a team lead shaking me awake and I'm on the bathroom floor and they have to basically carry me to the boss's office so we can wait for an ambulance.

I'm so fucking embarrassed. The doctor said I have alcoholic hepatitis and I passed out from my liver not functioning properly and it causing a toxic build up. I took a personal day today, but I have to go back to work eventually and face this bullshit. Hopefully I'm not fired.

I wish I had never started drinking, but at the same time I don't know how to stop. I wish I was dead.
