No they are given a knockout drug first, the a muscle paralysing drug, then the killing barbituate that stops their heart. Maybe someone can help me out. This thread brought back a vague memory of a movie i remember my parents watching. It may have been somewhat of a musical. I just remember someguy is on death row and he says something like (i dont want a last meal, i want a last DEAL!) I dont recall what that "deal" was. Also i remember another scene (this may be a different movie but it may be the same) where possibly the same character is in a bathtub filled with money. You get zapped every time you change rods if you can't be bothered climbing out of whatever hole you're in or whatever equipment you're climbed on to switch the machine off. Me and another guy spent 2 months inside the hull of a sinking barge doing repairs. We had a bilge running 24/7 pumping water out, welding up cracks with water seeping through, etc. Then we'd blow a hole through the next bulkhead and drop our pump through, drain it out, blow a man sized hole and climb in and start over.
I got shocked so many times I just got used to it. It's not for everyone.
