Ok so I fell for this meme. but something was off. I bought a 17$ rack of ribs from stop and shop and when i opened it it smelled terrible. like decomposing shit. I only usally cook with chicken or tenderloin so I figured that was normal

I followed the recipe to the letter and yes the bones slip out. but there was still that lingering smell to it. I served it and everyone said they liked it but I wouldnt eat it. i think too much cumin. that or the meat was bad. it's sad cause i really wanted it to work. just a heads up to anyone who was thinking of trying it

About what? Sounds like you bought slightly bad meat, but the recipe was a success.

You fed bad meat to people? Fuck anyone that will feed something to someone that they themselves wouldn't eat.

It is not supposed to smell at all like what you described. A decomposition smell is the first clue to spoiled food. Pork does have a smell to it, but it is not a strong smell, nor is it usually described as unpleasant.

Yeah, this. animals and humans too developed a sense of smell for reasons, and a very big reason was to detect and be able to avoid spoiled food. If it smells bad to you it is bad for you in most cases.

OP here apparently im an asshole for not realizing the meat was bad. I don't have any big gatherings coming up but I will try this again. if anything it means my store is selling bad meat. i did eat some. i just didn't like it. maybe i can sue them.

> I work at Stop and Shop.

Our quality of meat is disgusting, from the handling, storage, and packaging and everything else in between. The meat is repeatedly frozen and thawed out back because freezers typically break down and there's usually a two or three day delay before getting repairs. Usually with chicken and pork, this leaves the cuts smelly and rubbery. Every week that the value pack of store brand chicken breasts are on sale, the packages are always covered in chicken liquids on the outside and the meat is at the end of the line. Needless to say, I've stopped buying meat from Stop and Shop.

However, as per recent policy change, ask for your money back and you'll receive double, even without the receipt or item. Throw a fit if they don't do it because it is literally our policy. Just insist you had a guest who felt ill after.
