My ex was from Cleveland, and I've been to the brew pub several times. For craft beers available all over Ohio, I rather like them. I'm fond of the Conway's Irish Ale, but that's only available in and around Saint Paddy's, and an oatmeal stout they had at the brew pub. I also like the Eliot Ness. Not the best craft brews I've had, but far from the worst.

Raisins: don't like the taste. They need to stay out of my cookies, and especially out of my meatloaf. If a dish calls for raisins, I use craisins instead.
Raw tomatoes: mostly a texture thing. I don't like them in salads, but they're okay on sandwiches.
Balut: if you know what it is, you'd understand.
Sea Urchin roe: it's pretty gross and slimy.
Organ meats in general, which makes shellfish an interesting event for me.

Just made a baked mac and cheese casserole of sorts. Enough for me and my roommate for the next few days while we finish up college for the year. Homemade cheddar/colby cheese sauce, sauteed onions, shredded chicken, and cauliflower with the macaroni, topped with some panko... it's pretty tasty, and now I don't have to cook for a few days.

Oh, and depending on where you go, downtown might be holding their monthly strEATS festival. Free to get in, food trucks galore, live music, entertainment, etc. It's outdoors though, so it will be hot and miserable over the summer.
If you like diner food, find a Hash House a Go Go. Their food is nuts.

Growing up in Vegas, here's some places worth checking out that I've been to frequently.
If you swing by Chinatown, there's a Japanese izakaya called Ichiza. Japanese bar food, where you can have dinner for 4 for around $50 and have a ton of food. There's also Monta, a ramen house, several Korean BBQ places, and a Dim Sum place called Seafood Palace that I recommend.
If you really wanna travel out there, there's a place in the suburbs called Pin Kaow. Honestly their Thai curries alone are worth the trip.
On-Strip, Mandalay Bay has an Irish pub called Ri Ra. I highly recommend it for both food and drink. There's a little hole in the wall Thai place near the Stratosphere called Thai Original BBQ. Yes, it looks sketchy, but the food is amazing and pretty reasonable. I've been to Todd Urban's Public Urban Bar, and it's a little pricey, but their food is pretty good, they have a happy hour, and they have what I can only describe as an Irish Carbomb milkshake. If you're at the Cosmo at any point, you may as well hunt for the secret pizza place. It's pricey for pizza, but it's delicious. Buffet-wise, the Rio has a ton of choice for cheap cheap cheap, Caesar's, the Bellagio, the Wynn, and the Cosmo have pricey but upscale buffets, and if you're out at the Red Rock casino, theirs is pretty nice as well. Although if you're out at the Red Rock, you should go to Hachi or LBS instead (one is Japanese, the other is burgers).
Fremont East has a small pizza joint that makes a good pizza for cheap, best consumed while drinking. If you want to splurge, go to Oscar's Beef, Booze, and Broads. It's probably one of the nicer steakhouses I've ever been in. Oddly enough, the Steakhouse at the Circus Circus is really, really nice.
Then of course you have your various chains located on and off-Strip (go to In-n-Out if you've never been).
No matter what hotel you're staying at, sign up for the players card. Even if you never come back. It might help you get discounts on food.

Homemade baked mac and cheese. Fucked up on the sauce, it wasn't.... saucy? enough. Still tasted pretty good, and my roommate liked it, so I guess that's what matters right now. Learning process and whatnot.

I had about 13 glasses of wine last night, and I drank plenty of water throughout the night, ate some food before bed, and even made a huge breakfast this morning. But in the end, I still just ended up throwing up after making breakfast (but before eating it). Because sometimes, it's just easier to throw up, especially if it's on an empty stomach. I pretty much just vomited up wine, which wasn't too bad. But then I drank a ton of water, went back to sleep for a bit, woke up, more water, then food. Also, burping at least makes me feel a little better.

Farmer's markets are usually a good place, especially if you're in a bigger city. I imagine places like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods would have it as well.

>Get sick of telling roommate to wash her dishes
>"I don't have a problem washing them, you just need to remind me"
>Fuck that, tell her if she does it again, I'll put her dishes in her bed
>Give her several warnings since the initial threat
>Everytime I tell her to clean up her shit, she rolls her eyes and half asses it
>Go away for a week, make sure dishes are clean
>Come back, SINK FULL OF DISHES
>Give her a few days to maybe realize she should clean them now that I'm back
>Get sick of the sight, clean half the dishes, put the other half in her bed
>She puts the dishes BACK IN THE SINK, UNWASHED, and leaves a passive aggressive note saying I needed to just remind her and she'd do them
>Fuck that, I'm not your mom
>Wash the dishes, put them all in my room, lock up my room, go away for the weekend
>Don't come home to a sink full of dirty dishes
She was offended that I dared put dishes in her bed. I told her I don't make idle threats. If it happens again, I'm putting all of them in her bed along with her fishtank.

I shall keep that in mind. There's a 6-acre international grocery store a few hours from where I am, but a cooler and some ice packs keep the frozen things fine on the trip back.

I've never wanted to smack someone so hard before. She's a nice girl, but so fucking stupid. I can't stand when she washes dishes because they're still greasy.

>>4325756
wat.

What else have I got... probably just some random happenstances.

>watched roommate make beef jerky pancake, and our neighbor ate it

>people adding salt and pepper to EVERYTHING, especially before tasting

>watching people eat bowls of gravy
>also, gravy on everything

>actually go to a party
>overhear people discussing what tastes better, Bud Light or PBR

Going to school in the Midwest/South is suffering.

I actually almost bought emu once. I'll put that on my to eat list. Let's see, there's gotta be more stories.

>Making potato soup one day
>roommate insists on helping
>fine, sure, whatever
>she keeps throwing the word roux around while I'm doing stuff
>"Is it time for the roux? When are we gonna do the roux?"
>eventually ask her if she knows what that means
>"I heard it on the Food Network"

>roommate asks if she can use some of my Nutella, seeing how I had an almost new jar
>thinking she's making toast or something, I say why not
>come to find she's used almost the entire jar
>as icing
>on "blueberry" muffins. You know the kind I'm talking about. The $1 "your blueberries are just blue globs of gelatin and artificial flavor, just add an egg" muffin mix
>All of my rage
She has a tendency to mix that cheap muffin mix with the "chocolate flavored chips". And then wonders why no one wants to eat the muffins.

>inform roommate she should take trash out more often
>normally, myself or our other roommates will take the trash out on a regular basis
>she needs to take a turn too
>she tells me we're being environmentally more conscious by not taking it out more often
>I stare at her, tell her "no, it's fucking disgusting. take the damn trash out."

Freshmen, man. I've lived with all sorts of various freshmen over the years, and goddamn, it's like some of them have never had chores or learned to cook. When did people stop learning how to cook?

>vegetarian roommate one year
>sees me separating meat one day after I come back from shopping
>asks how I can eat meat
>tell her it's tasty, and that I want to try kangaroo
>she freaks out, says kangaroos are cute
>tell her I've eaten cat and dog before, and kangaroos are fucking mean and open season
Also, they taste like venison. I rather like it.

>live with a freshman whose had no responsibilities in her life
>half drank cans of soda litter the living room
>half eaten bowls of insta-ramen everywhere
>she freaked out when I started cleaning them up
>her mom would stop by and clean up after her weekly

>roommate complains that she doesn't have the money to eat well
>her and I spent the same amount monthly on food
>she'd buy pasta, microwave meals, and snacks
>she wonders why my food actually looks good
>told her to learn how to cook
>she just ate my food instead

>roommate has friend over
>I had just made a cake for a party and it was cooling in the kitchen
>come back from running errands
>cake destroyed
>neither her nor her friends would live up to it

>> No.4325095 [View]

Oh man, I've got stories for days from living on campus. My college has dorms that are either townhouses or apartments, so there's several of us in one place, and we have a full kitchen.

>come home from class
>roommate is making spaghetti
>noodles, jar of sauce. Cool, whatever.
>proceed to watch her add hot sauce, cheddar cheese, and ranch
>go into bedroom appalled

>clean kitchens are a must for me
>I make sure to do my dishes frequently, usually while I'm cooking
>roommate hasn't washed hers in ages
>tell her to wash her dishes
>she says "well, it's just, life's been distracting"
>tell her I don't give a shit, this is the 4th time in 6 months we've had this discussion
>tell her if she doesn't start doing her dishes, I'll start putting them in her bed
I actually may be making good on that threat today.

>occasionally offer roommate food when I make a bunch
>she starts eating all of my stuff
>start adding sriracha to curb her from doing so
Surprisingly, that worked

>> No.4318702 [View]

To be honest, it was a combo of cookbooks and the Food Network. After my parents got divorced, I pretty much learned to cook to keep me, my brother, and my dad from living off of microwaved foods. Watch, read, try to replicate, hope for the best. So I would try simple things, and if that worked, I would maybe tweak it to make it better. Practice, practice, practice.

Actually it tastes more like dog food with cheddar cheese on spaghetti noodles. I have no clue why Cincinnati chili is so awful. Probably because it's decent flavoring away from just being sloppy joe mix.

>AmA
Get out.

OP, I'm a fan of the honey BBQ and Asian Zing. If the bone-in wings are on special, get those, otherwise go for boneless. Their buffalo chips aren't terrible, but they aren't great either.
