Probably wagyu steaks, american bacon, blue cheese, and ant eggs

Is it really all that different from the idea of loving nuclear reactors while hating nuclear warheads?

Were the steaks in vacuum sealed bags? It could be oxidation of myoglobin turning the meat that grey colour if there was a leak in the vacuum. If so, just dry the surface with paper towels before you cook it. Should cook up the same way as long as you get rid of the excess water.

thats fine for a medium steak but you get these greyish bands of well done meat close to the surface

i thought i loved it that way, but im divorcing Medium Steak and getting shotgun wedding'd to Medium Rare Steak

>> No.12064054 [View]

used a discount ribeye that had been sitting in my freezer for a month and seasoned it with salt only, and that shit tasted as good as anything from a fancy restaurant

its warmed through, just baaaaaaaaaaarely cooked and tender af with minimum overcooked grey bits

its even better than sous vide and im converted from a medium steak basic bich to a medium rare SLUT

my standards are very low so this isnt hard

honestly im digging the submissions so far and ill be coming here more often to watch these threads

ONE suggestion tho: OP should repost the verified entries from previous rounds + descriptions so people can continue voting on them, having all the submissions on display is very motivational imo and helps drum up more relevant discussion and participation

did it taste good tho?
youd probably get points taken off in the challenge goals category since rice wouldnt be the star of the dish, you can still submit tho and let the people decide

excited to see the challenge back, I'd be happy to provide a (very small) prize for the winners OP

i fucking love hmart, cheap af sashimi grade salmon and good variety of veg/fruit

they have TONS of chinese and japanese stuff, at least at my local HMart, I eat hotpot regularly at home and get my hotpot soup mixes and sliced meats from there

i like to marinade salmon in soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic and sesame oil for a couple hours then roast it in the oven, this marinade recipe would probs work great wtih chicken and other fish as well. chuck some bite size veg in the tray as well and you got an ez meal, cooks in like 20 mins at 380F/200C

re: premade stuff
go ham in the snacks aisle, cheap seaweed snacks, honey butter chips are good, white rabbit candy is delicious, haw flakes are cheap and good, the japanese candy is more pricey but their fruit flavours are on point

instant noodles: indomie mi goreng and curry maggi mi are my personal favourites so thats what id recommend, if ur a weeb Nissin brand insta noodles are good too i like their sesame noodles

its the kind of price point where its worth trying out at least one new product each shopping trip, ive gotten to try a lot of different kinds of fruits, veg and snacks. love their smoked duck breast as well but im a slut for duck anyway

just make stir fries with all the veg you like, cut everything into bite size pieces and fry it up with garlic and its good
