doody, haven't heard that one in a while. nice :)

>>7560552
starting msc in fall, hopefully something better soon :) could eat some raw veg meals, but man i love meat. especially wild game. have some senpai that hunts so getting some nice white tail or black tail is godly. Every now and then my senpai butchers a cow from our farm and we keep some meat. its a million times better than regular store bought factory stuff.

Good insights. I remember thin crispy ones in the caf as a kid in highschool. definitely fried. perhaps the double fry. i wonder what temp to allow the crisp to develop versus burning the sugars...

>>7560814
Hmmmm can't recall... was working 35-50 hours a week and saving some cash, but not enough for the long ass trip i was planning. checked a few dumpster and hit a produce/candy/chocolate/15 big tins of mcDeezy's mccafe coffee and was hooked.

Another reason to dive: just got hit with a 1,200.00 car bill for a bunch of work, safety, e-test etc. life is expensive.

Its ok, as long as some peeps are enjoying the thread. You lurkers who are intrigued should post if you want more stufff!

>>7559993
Yeah I could i suppose, not too sure how it works in canada though. Leaving the country in the fall to start science/med MSc in yurop. setting up all that shit takes time. will probably rock climb and work a few hours a week and spend time with family. Too many places to go before i leave.

>>7560017
I'm curious as to how many hours people work here, how much free time they have, and how happy they are. Sure, this isnt the idea situation, but if you're poor and have time try it out. you never know what you'll find :)

>>7560090
fresh bread all the time man. even if a little stale, its free and I'm hungry. usually isnt bad AT ALL though. The best were cartons of organic free range omega3 blah blah eggs that had one broken one in them. some stores just toss the WHOLE CARTON!

>>7560096
THOSE PENNIES WERE IN MY ASS

>>7560099
haha ewww. reality is gross...

>>7560111
thats about my usual, but i was finding that the sugars are burning before they become crispy. perhaps a lower temp? will return to this method in future at least.

>>7560162
Thanks anon :)

>>7560330
Yeah, i kinda hope not in a way because more competiton means less good food for me. already see other divers every now and then.

>>7560366
check em. check em all. just go take a peak and walk around back of all your grocers. mostly will be nothing, but if you keep looking you might find a jackpot. usually 9/10 is nothing lately its been good for me at a certain place. was a month without anything there though!

>> No.7560821 [View]

anywhere can be good. some of the best places/chains in one city can be terrible in the next. depends on management policies and how much they want to keep everything looking good in the produce dept. generally places that don't do discounted produce and have a high standard for quality.

>>7559776
Food is expensive brother. lots is wasted. I really like to eat well but its too expensive for me to buy everything right now. Still with this diving/freeish living my expenses are slightly greater than the 150$ a week I'm making now part time.

>>7559805
Wait until i hit a tomato jackpot... Sundried tomatoes for weeks and amazing sauces ;)

>>7559830
Definitely. What do you think of sunflower seeds? have some cashews and usually find those and use... oh shit i found some almonds too! no pine nuts tho :/

>>7559868
Have done in past, LOVED IT!

>>7559908
Thats fair man. I get that people are grossed out by the idea of it all. What about things that are individually packaged though? like granola bars etc? or that basil that was in its own container, or other stuff packed the same way? What about a dumpster containing only bread that is prepackaged? Would that be ok? It usually isnt how people imagine where I go and i surprisingly clean...

>>7559917
:)

>>7559926
lol. fuck veganism hah. When i do this I can afford to buy meat :D

>>7559951
Thank you anon :D glad someone caught that

>>7559593
i hope anon, but if not the joy of sharing with others will suffice.

>>7559597
Fair enough. Can/USA tends to be pretty clean man... the bins that I pick from are often cleaned weekly if not monthly.

Thanks anon. sounds like an awesome trip. I've never walked that far before. Have driven across though. I liked montana :) Drove across canada too. AB/BC is amazing.

>>7559547
It is pride. people can't do it and i get that. i don't tell many people i do this because I don't know if I could for sure live up to the ridicule from most. its nice to post here and see the mixed feelings. For generosity, i would say that: I'm not a person who has a lot, but I enjoy sharing what I have. Maybe it will be my downfall, who knows.

cheers dude, maybe when i have more money i can live like that :)

>>7559507
perhaps electricity was included in rent? or perhaps a small oven? i still think the power consumption for a few mins outweighs the cost of food that would fill you teh same way 3 or so donuts would

hmmm looks like there is a lot of competition already. maybe we'll see... Might try :) thanks for the advice

Food is expensive man. and so much is wasted that is very much edible or savable. most of the time its not rotten, just bruised or ugly looking. still tasty. wash it well to get any spores off it and it lasts a while in the fridge

i agree though, it can be risky. I like to roll the dice.Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this but it would be pretty sweet to just go out and buy whatever i want at the store and cook it. better time for me to save right now though. perhaps in the future life will be easier

for sure dude, no shit started. Hopefully your curiosity is satisfied, but if not ask away.

Yeah, me too dude. most of the time you can tell when something is there. like package is damaged, label is messed up or something so they dont sell it.

Some do, most don't who knows what they really think. Its a shame how much food waste is out there anon. all the stuff i take is very far from becoming inedible. mild bruises. why should that food go to the dump? what about single packaged items like choclate bars or packs of granola bars and stuff? are those ok? why not?

Brutal, well I hope you enjoy your vacation. I enjoy biking but mainly when its to get to somewhere to climb. Yeah possibly some excuses and probably a bum kid. just enjoying exploring things though man. living on a dime and getting the most of what I want outta life. I get that what I do isnt for everyone though. this kind of just facilitates the money to travel and climb and not work so much.

>>7559339
ooo internet beef... lol not me but nice job baiting a reply

>>7559344
OOo baited hard 8/10 for success....

who knows who would win in a fight. why would we have to fight I wouldn't tell you about the garbage anyways hah. 6ft 172lbs, not super jacked but decently musle-y. Big back, lats and tri's... so i could pull you close to me really hard haha my chest is weak.

high tech machines that use high pressure running complex mixtures through a column to seperate the components. changing temp, solvent and stuff to let certain compounds flow faster and stuff. then things at the end like UV light shooting at seeing how it absorbs it... or mass spectrometer to get some more chemical information as you destroy the sample and see what the fragments could be with respect to remaining masses... science stuff....

>>7559330
I would trick you and you'd love it. I'm never about the big reveal in real life though. always just keep it quiet.

extra desert. bought this discounted pineapple for a dollar so add maybe 25cents to that total...65 cents wew lads

recently accepted into msc program for medical imaging.... so saving money to minimize loans for it. maybe one day I'll have enough money, but its really not that important to me. I enjoy living in a tent in the forest for extended periods and rock climbing/exploring every day. Do you take your two week vacation every year to a resort and hang on the beach and get drunk? i pity you :(

pesto looking good :)

Negative. HPLC for trace materials, drug amounts, purities, natural product identification from complex mixtures.

>>7559310
why, all if it is still good, just brusied or ugly looking. all is thoroughly washed. almost everything comes in individual packaging too like this basil... whats wrong with bannanas? or something like oranges with peels? avocados?
What about things like cabbage where you can peel off generously the outer 5 layers and have for sure fresh underneath? what about canteloupes or pineapples? you dont eat the outside?

To be honest its kind of fun. you never know what you will find and it will be wasted otherwise. Interesting to eat what you get and try to improvise dishes.get TONNS of dried goods like pasta, nuts, granola bars, nuts, seeds, have dehydrated shit load in the past. been able to travel and live off it for 10 months so its been kinda rad haha. 10 month vacation doesnt sound good to you all?

Found a kilo bag of unopened cashews... here is the end of that. used salt from them instead of adding salt. olive oil, pepper will add crushed garlic later.
