Its 11ga. Right on the blurry edge of sheet metal and plate boundary. I usually call 1/4" thick and higher plate.

>>1745967
>How does that thing work?

If you're asking how well it works, then it works quite well, if you're asking the specifics about how it works, it is basically a cherry picker upright that I took off of a used cherry picker I bought for cheap and then welded a piece of heavy pipe and flange to the bottom of it, on the bottom part that goes into the hitch there is a matching flange and a larger pipe that it is sleeved into. Some grease in the joint and a 5/8" hitch pin to pin it from rotating when you don't want it to swivel.

Last pic is chain and hitch storage to keep it somewhat organized and keep that shit from cluttering up the shop.

Nah, those wheel type stump grinders with the carbide teeth would work way better than this. I could have probably made it work better as a trencher by turning most of the teeth the other way so they were cutting on the edge of the tooth and just having a couple paddle ones to pull the dirt out of the trench. I ended up getting a Ditch Witch 2300 though so I haven't messed with the home made trencher since.

Are you talking about condensation on the solar panel itself, or condensation inside the ammo can? I was worried for a bit about the batteries needing to vent inside the ammo can, but so far it hasn't been an issue. I run them for the winter months when our cattle are on field pasture to keep them away from the gated pipe, but after we kick them out in the spring I pull the batteries and use them on lawnmowers and other small equipment.

If you're talking about condensation in the panel itself, I've never seen it get any behind the glass.

>>1746749

I dunno how well that would work, as it is on a 3 point post hole digger hanging downward.

>>1746763

Meh it's actually not dangerous at all as far as I'm concerned. I have an arbor the whole thing mounts on that drops into a mount for a hitch receiver, so it's anchored to the pickup when I'm pulling in wire. A hell of a lot better than cranking that shit in by hand!

Just a couple pieces of angle spaced off of a pipe and welded in place. I basically used like a 3/4" thick piece of flat iron as a spacer, clamped the angles to the pipe, welded them up, and then knocked out the spacer and welded the inside as best I could.

My dad has a toolbox drawer of heat bent wrenches. I told him i could reharden and nickel plate them but he said they've never failed yet so what's the point. Meh.

The best one is probably a wrench he made in 1990. Had a 1988 delta 88 olds and blew a freeze plug out. Him and his cousing stared at it and then his cousin just called GM. They said you START by pulling the motor or transmission. Dad spent an hour monkeying qith a couple of wrenches, a torch, and a welder and an hour after that we were driving down the road laughing at GM.

Looking back on it the crooked cocksuckers probably just wanted to charge us for an engine pull when their mechanics already had the tool. If not we should have set up a workshop and chinese labor camp.

I already alluded to that earlier in the thread. Those red "plug stops" as they are called on the back of that old flatbed pickup. They hold the plug in the end of a run of gated pipe for irrigation. Thanks Anon! Yeah it has been pretty handy for different projects outside the shop. I put a piece of reciever tubing on the corner of the bench opposite the vise. Need to get a few different attachments made to go in there and hold a little ring roller and a small shear that I restored.

If I build the attachment right I should be able to line up the jaws of the shear with the table top and support the long part of the work with the table surface so stuff isn't flopping around... Will probably also try to incorporate some kind of arm for a stop so if you are cutting a bunch of stuff the same size you can slide it to the stop, and then cut it without having to measure each one.

>350# air can crusher, does tall boys too. Great party tool in the shop when the beers come out.

I have tons of homemade tools, but can crusher is first that comes to mind because it's the funnest. Working on a FEL for my Kubota B1550HST. 72" pin height same as a factory LA805 FEL. Keeping it simple, all 3/16" wall 2" tube, 3/8" for cylinder brackets and 5/16" for every other bracket and gusset.

Only cost me the rams and joystick, steel is all cutoffs and scrap. Going to make a homebrew quicktach system that makes it primarily a pallet style front, with a bucket that pins into 2-1/2" .250" wall square tube recievers with 2" pegs. Use 2" .375" wall square tube for the forks. Kind of hard to explain, I always do napkin drawings or build from memory. Cut up beer cases are my primary drawing material, and get lost easily.

I have 2 1970s Case 444 tractors, built a TON of implements for them, 4' box scraper, 5' scraper blade, 26" ripper blade for trench lines and ripping roots, modified a single furrow 12" moldboard plow into a double furrow 16", and more I can't even think of. Bought this Kubota and a 1977 Case 644 factory loader tractor (considered a subcompact). Smaller than a Home depot John Deere, but has a 16HP Onan twin. Has a 3-point hitch, mid lift for cutting deck, and the front end loader can comfortably lift 800# with a proper wieght box or good box blade on the 3-point.

Start for the 5' box blade for the Kubota. Ripper shanks are made from an old 8' road grader blade and some 2x5/8" AR400 flatbar. Also planning on making a box planer down the road. Brush hog I don't think I'll make myself, probably buy a super cheap 6-7' rotary mower (since 4-5' ones goes for $900+ around here, and 6-8' go for between scrap price up to $400) and chop it down to 5' to do what I need.

Also need to make a roll bar for this thing like my other tractors.

Got tired of fucking up my aluminum bodied sharpies in my pocket. Top one is what they end up looking like after a few weeks, so I built the housing on the bottom. Sharpie slips in and I applied a drop of super glue to keep it in place. When it runs out of ink/dries out I can either unscrew the top and replace it with a refill from another marker, or if the threaded aluminum part sticking out happens to break I can heat it up a bit and push it out (put a drive hole in the bottom) and put an entire new marker body in there.

Injector tester/cleaning rig I built. I plug the cigarette lighter end into a jump pack, and then that momentary switch is used to actuate the injector. I also built that little cup that goes over the end of injector that inserts into the fuel rail and can pressurize it with a can of carb cleaner or brake cleaner and then test the spray pattern and help clean gunk out of them.

Here's a pic of the planter I made so far. Like I said above that was leftover concrete from pouring a slab and we were fucking exhausted, so with a proper mix with smaller aggregate and maybe some concrete plasticizer in there it would probably turn out better. the black on there is from some graphite paint I had in the form. Next one I do I'll probably spray it down with some PAM non-stick cooking oil, or some diesel fuel before putting the concrete in.

Here's one after I painted the form and you can see the pins on the corners that hold it in the folded up position for pouring. I got the seams nice and tight and only had a tiny bit of water leakage out of the form when it had concrete in it. No actual concrete got through at all.

Inside piece painted with that graphite paint I mentioned above.

It bolts down to the outer form on the inside and sits up on some tapered standoffs. I tapered them so that they will break free from the concrete easier and they also provide drain holes in the planter so that whatever you grow in there won't get water-logged.

Stapler, I created a spring from a large paper clip wrapping around its swivel post having it taper down towards the angle point then turn back at the angle a guns box spring magazine would and rested the tip of the paper clip near where it started.

I used copper wire and made an extension for my rifles not-long-enough aluminum milsurp barrel cleaner rod. So when I pull it past it doesn't bur into the rifle but is strong enough it won't get stuck. This way I can really load on the rag that it drags through getting the grooves of the rifling.

I bend extra wrenches so they fit each car bolt that they need to angle to get to. I have three sets of wrenches and my good ones I know not to bend. This ensures the bolt never gets stripped by "do everything mediocre" tools.

I also put these helpful photos together as like pic related. You've probably seen my work since 2010.

I took it to the woods yesterday for a test run but that was before I wrapped the handle in paracord. It throws well if you're strong enough to throw it. Sticks in anything you huck it at. The spike broke right through a cinder block on it's first try. Splits wood just fine but if you don't land your strikes correctly the handle vibrates pretty bad. I'm hoping the paracord handle mitigates that, even if just a little.

In my opinion, 7/10. My work needs refinement, the axe head should be bigger, and steel is not the best handle option. However it does it's job and does it well, and it's all-steel construction means it'll last several lifetimes if it's cared for properly.

I also made a railway spike knife but I intentionally left it rough-looking. I feel like that gives it a bit of character and helps maintain it's spike aesthetics.
