Hey Diy Anons, my brother just gave me these cool HyperX headphones. Problem is that it has his gamer sweat all over it and he got real rough with it. He somehow broke the base of the audio input and tried fixing it himself.

He then gave it to me after that, what do I do to fix it, I have a soldering kit and spare wires hanging around.

I looked up and found that this Headhpone fetches about $100 online, so I guess this could be worth the time.

Voltage is good.

I think is that the bottom audio jack is broke.

How to fix?

Most gaymer garbage is cheap shit sold at a higher price to retards that don't know any better. Go buy some decent senheiser headphones and they will sound 10 times better.

Should I just throw it in the trash then?

Fix it to learn something.

So I've assed that it's the audio jack that's fucked.

>>2011099
This seems a bit complicated for me.

You can just get a new TRRS connector and solder it on. Cut the cable off above the strain relief and dissect the old plug to figure out the wiring. You might be able to reuse the old one but don't worry too much about it.

Make sure he didn’t use it as a tactile vagina because some sex apps transmit vibrations.

Alright, so I stripped the cable were the audio jack was and tested the audio using a 9volt battery against the wires.

Turns out only one side of the speakers work.

So I gave up on it and threw it in the trash.

-don't- put DC on a speaker coil

>Turns out only one side of the speakers work.
Did you check continuity of both speaker coils?

I'm legit not sure what the hell you do.
Test resistance of both coils (they should be around 32 ohms, it depends on model).
If one of them has really low resistance (like few ohms) or it doesn't read anything, it's most likely fried. Don't put 9V or any kind of DC to your speakers!
These headphones are decent, if it's just cable, it's literally 5 minute fix just to solder new cable.
This is really easy thing to repair/troubleshoot, good way to start possible hobby or whatever.

Good thread, happened to me a lot ,thx op

Impedance (basically resistance to ac, depending on frequency) should be 32 ohms
(sound signal is really messy ac)
with a multimeter you measure dc resistance, so they might still be perfectly fine
otherwise everything else this guy said, go for it, learn something new

Also, should be pretty generic, but here's this.

Without a mic, it's just ground all the way up (and no buttons and resistors, obviously).
