He's using a bit holder to grab a pc screw directly.
The shape of the head should make that method rather obvious though.

pic related, because i think it's a bit more complicated; he is holding the screw with a standard interchangeable screwdriver, with no bit inserted.

now for a proper answer to this thread....

It's a 5/16 or 1/4 bit driver being used sans bit to drive a hex head screw of the same size, and hold on to it, because the bit driver is magnetic.

how to make simple shelving units
you will need:
>4 x long peices of wood, 2x2 is good
>a bunch of shorter peices of planks or battens
>some planks to be shelves
see pic for assembly
here are some simple instructions.
screw battens between two of the long pieccs at the same height making two identical "ladders"
then screw your shelf planks down on to them.

When you (or the last guy) breaks off the little fold over clip that secures a flat cable, such as the keyboard connector on your laptop, pic related, just use a razor blade to cut a piece of a plastic from a hard blister pack (such as electronic components or other small items are sold in). Cut it the same width as the ribbon cable, and wedge it in on top of the cable.

Here's a hint to go with your suggestion: A source of cheap 2x2 wood are 97 cent "balusters" for railings a home depot or lowes. I used them to make a mining rig frame, as per some russian accent dude in a youtube video.

Welcome to /diy/, which seems to be one weird mix of chan culture and DIY culture. It's a constant conflict because chan culture is often rude and basically a bunch of neckbeards eating tendies and talking down to each other, whereas DIY culture is more git-er-done and let's share knowlege. I don't know why I keep coming back.

IMO, it wasn't always like that. Yes, people on 4chan could be dicks, but they didn't have to be dicks to be on 4chan. At some point, I feel like new blood just assumed that the only way you are supposed to communicate on here was to be as antagonistic and contrarian as possible.

The concept of having conversations where someone doesn't jump in with nay-saying everything or just being argumentative for the sake of doing so seems to be lost. That, or desperately attempting to remold someone's statement so that they can have a debate that nobody else is interested in. /v/ and /co/ are especially bad with this shit anymore. And is anything done to fix it? Nope. Just add more shitty boards and moderate everything with deleted posts and mystery bans so nobody can even see what's unacceptable behavior anymore.

But alas, the ride never ends.

Back on topic, it is entirely possible to solder an old PS/2 cable harvested off an old shitty mouse to a laptop touchpad/keyboard nub and connect that to your PC, since even modern laptops still use the PS/2 interface for their keyboards and touchpads. You can find more info about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdznW0ZuzGo

How is that not on topic? I figured it out myself. I posted that video because it explains the process. There are even two other PC-related posts, including the OP - you can see the computer he's working on in his image.

But okay, let me contribute to some existing posts, then:

Easiest and cleanest way to add stability would be to add a horizontal board between both sides of the shelf, then screw the top shelf in where you see the green dots. Adding the four screws on the side will prevent twisting or leaning forward. The long horizontal board will prevent leaning from side to side and give extra sturdiness to the shelves.

If you want to go REALLY cheap, get a large sheet of heavy cardboard and staple it across the whole back off the shelf. That's how Ikea does it.
