Anyone know how to prevent this from happening? The shelf is new and is hanging by 2 screws and it pulls away from the wall as the arrow shows

Did you use drywall anchors?
Put little metal brackets underneath, attached to the wall to push the shelf back up

Tighten the screws or use shims to increase the angle assuming you aren't pulling the screws out of the wall. Anchors or studs if you are pulling them out.

I have one similar to that in my bathroom, I put Kreg jigged pocket screws in top and bottom to hold it tightly into the studs.
