Interested in making a cheap bamboo bar/earthquake bar. This guy uses a fiberglass pipe but they’re kinda expensive to ship. Is there something like that that’s stiffer than PVC I can pick up at Home Depot? I could get steel bar, this guy on Reddit did the calculations so 1in looks OK for up to 250lb requirements.
I have standard weights and Olympic weights but just wanna try this too. Wouldn’t mind leaving cheap cement weights outside though.

I’m thinking of making a pvc water sloshing pipe too.

bamboo will break pvc will bend and break, go to your scrapyard and get a barbell

Because that's just a stand, this is retarded. A pipe is cheap. Just get 4 of those barbells clamps, 2 to prevent the weights from sliding towards your hands, and the other 2 to prevent them from sliding off the pipe. By the clamps first and then head to a metal yard or a recycling plant to get the pipe.
Also, it's like $40 for a barbell.

Here's my plan.

I'm gonna buy wheels used. Do something like this. It'll act as a wagon wheel. Allow you to take plates off and on easier on the groumd, but it will also impact absorb for concrete weights and allow you to lift inside without damaging the floor easier.

The wheels should be cheap if you get unusable ones no one wants anymore. Next up, the actual plates. You can buy 80 pounds of fiber reinforced quikrete for about 6 dollars. I've seen a guy drop his reinforced concrete bars from chest height and they didn't shatter. It did chip pieces off it. That's what the tire is for. You can buy a mold for these weights for 30 dollars. 6 dollars for 80 pounds easily makes up for this rather expensive mold. This is the outcome plate.

Wagon wheels are actually pretty useful all around by the way. You don't have to bend as far down for deadlifts while still activating the legs the same way, and adding smaller plates is insanely easy since it's always taller than the regular plates.

While the tires are there for impact absorption and preventing the concrete from hitting, it actually has benefits.

Lastly, for the rack I was going to do something with wood but realized I don't have much room for all this shit and want a set up I can store entirely in my closet when not in use.

Solution I found was retardedly simple. Milk crates. You can adjust the height as you see fit, then tear them down and store them in the corner of the room or a closet.

I was iffy about the stability of them but saw videos of people doing it and am convinced it's worth a shot at least.

Until you accidentally topple one of your milk crate stacks and have no way to dismount your weights, so they go crashing to the floor.

That's what the tire is for. You fuck up you can just drop it where ever.

Where are the $40 barbells? I am looking for Olympic ones otherwise I’d just just 1in as accessories. Good idea for the clamps.

>>2013799
This idea is excellent. Thank you. The milk crates isn’t a bad idea with the concrete plates either. It’s very simple and effective.
