2011082 No.2011082 [Reply] [Original]

Over the last week I've started collecting plastic bottles I find on the street. I'm a bit of a hoarder and this has become my new obsession.

Is there anything useful I can do with them? Seems a shame to just throw them away

>> No.2011089

Recycle them. And I don't mean turn them into pencil holders or vases or whatever. I mean take them to your local recycling center and drop them off so that they can be disposed of properly.

I think he could get some money back for that as well right? But probably just 4 bucks even if it's for a lot of bottles

Talk about understatement. Collecting garbage off the street to add to your piles is full blown obsessive hoarding.

Depends on the state. Some states do 5 cents a can. Michigan and I think Hawaii do 10 cents. Some states don't at all and you're supposed to recycle them just for good boy points.

There's a cheap knife tool you can get that will quickly turn them into a strong plastic twine which you can then use to build cool stuff. Can even build a pretty strong shelter with it.

Start making jenkem. You have enough bottles to start a commercial-grade huff farm. If you perfect your recipe well enough you can start slinging water balloon hits on the corner for a 5. Soon you’ll be cooking in 5gal water cooler jugs and selling huff by the scuba cylinder.

Nah, you're just stupid because hoarding anything that doesn't empower you is not of functional benefit. Hoard useful things, not waste you wish was useful.

Here’s a cool project that gives you a lot to creative freedom.
You’ll need a metal or ceramic drum (but you can also use your oven), a length of metal cord (braided metal cord is the best, but just something that has higher melting point than the plastic bottles), and plastic bottles that have been cleaned / labels removed.
What you do is put 3-4 two liter bottles into the metal drum or oven, and apply heat slowly and gradually at a low temperature, gradually increasing as needed in order to see slight deformations in the bottles.
Then, with one end of the cord, you wrap it around some bottles, approx 3-4 2-liter bottles or equivalent of different sizes.
With the cord wrapped around, gradually tighten the cord more and more as the plastic becomes malleable. Don’t do it too quickly or it’ll create imperfections that are annoying to deal with later.
If you’re using the oven, for example, you would have one end of the cord wrapped around the mass inside the oven, and the other end fed through a crack in the oven door.
To keep heat in, it’s a good idea to prop a chair up against the oven door, basically enough to push the sealing strip against the oven frame. The best way to tell if it’s sealed well enough is that you aren’t able to open the oven door without moving the chair or whatever you have propped against it to hold it closed.
Then, while heating up the bottles in the oven, with the end of the cord, you want to make a nice wide loop to “pull” with. A wide loop will be easier on your hands since this can take awhile. You’ll thank me later.
So, now you have the plastic bottles starting to deform, and you’re ready to tighten the cord. Since it’s feeding through the oven door, you’ll need to pull “upward” on it. It can be annoying after awhile. So, you can either rig up a simple pulley, or something strong enough to put it over (like a door, pot hanger, or even
(1/2)

So, you can take the wide loop,

(2/2)
Post length limit is shit.

Anyway, so you can even just screw in a simple c or J hook into a ceiling joist and run the cord through there. It’s a little more work than a pulley, but way better than trying to lift the cord up while standing on a stool for an hour.

So now, let’s say you run the hook from the ceiling. You run the cord through the hook, and then, with the other end, you want the end to be at about shoulder height. Then, that’s where you make the loop. Make sure the loop is securely fastened so it doesn’t come undone during this whole process. You can crimp it with a joiner that costs maybe $0.50. Or just make a knot that won’t come undone (one that tightens with pressure) when pulling on it for long stretches at a time.
So, now you have a sturdy setup and you’re ready to put the loop over your head and fucking hang yourself because you’re a retarded nigger for hoarding trash, thinking it’s useful.

I always thought how cool it would be to make a raft outta those.
Yeah make a water-fareing vehicle.
A raft. Or how about some pontoon boat type thing like Water World catamaran.
Or a suit with its entire surface having bottles attached to it somehow and jump off a bridge and float swim around.
Speaking of that, make a impact absorbing suit and test it out against a car or falling off a bike. Or walking through cactus.
Loads of possibilities
